I suggest to get knowledge on which company shill is considered HardOCP? ;)

It is quite funny that Kyle posts this article today, one day before the event ;)

I am having great laugh lately about the rumors, and articles floating around.

P.S. That article is based on the rumors from random forum members that claimed that Polaris was not able to get past 850 MHz because of thermal problems. And few other rumors, like Intel buying AMD.

This reads as I guy upset about not getting invited to AMD's press event. This is what happens when you publicly trash their PR guy.

As to his concerns about AMD's future. Its too early to tell but both Zen and Polaris/Vega certainly have potential and its too early to tell how it will all pan out. The potential APU designs with Zen + Polaris/Vega + HBM should lead to some really great products that AMD is uniquely positioned to offer. Add to that all the rumors of console mid-cycle updates and AMD must have something good on their hands.

"deficient product that dosen't cut the mustard".

The technically correct saying is "cut the muster" which comes from "pass muster", a military term having to do with the inspection of a unit's personnel.

    Incorrect.

    http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/cut-the-mustard.html

If you're going to pick on something in that post, perhaps the misspelt "doesn't" could be it.

It's worrying that AMD is ignoring the high end. It'll put them in a good place on the Macbook Pro and the iMac, but for the Mac Pro that's more of a problem. Vega getting rolled up will help, as long as Apple uses Vega.

Nvidia got blackballed from Apple because of all the GPU failures, but their drivers continue to be a bag of hurt. Everyone wonders why Apple isn't shipping Nvidia driver updates faster, when you have the web drivers constantly breaking things. It's a joke among developers that you can say you found a bug with a certain unnamed vendors drivers, and everyone knows who you are talking about. I don't even hear people complain about Intel drivers any more.

"The fact that the launch is in Macau is also very telling. AMD has a reputation of holding GPU launches in exotic locations when trying to obscure a deficient product that doesn’t cut the mustard ( Anyone remember Tunis? ) – this is a Chris Hook special and something AMD’s current head of marketing has been doing for years."

    -----

does the story conclude using similar logic paths as in the opener? because if so, i'll pass on reading the rest.

"the fact that the launch is in Macau is very telling"
    -because-
"AMD holds GPU launches in exotic locations and have been doing so for years"

    that's just horrible journalism.. sorry.

(seriously, i didn't make it further than this.. does it get any better?)

They could take the AMD route, just don't release any new drivers. Hawaii drivers are a stuttering joke, Fuji incomplete.

that phrase is a misheard version of a popular phrase used back in the dark ages.
    cut the mushturd

like "homie Gilbert so stoops he ain't even cut the mushturd".. he's not very sharp.. in fact, so dull he can't even cut through a mushy turd.

    We've reached the nadir.
    --- Post Merged, May 30, 2016 ---
ATI is not ignoring the "high end", they're just incapable of building competitive GPUs.

The ATI fans are hoping that Polaris 10 won't be embarrassed by the GTX 1070. No hope of matching the GTX 1080, let alone the GP102-based Titan and ti cards.

GP100 - ATI has no plans to even compete in the same ballpark. ATI is kissing the HPC market goodbye. (They'll crow about a system or two using hot ATI cards, but in the end it will be like Apple's HPC venture at Virginia Tech - sent to eWaste.)

Don't worry about it. When GP102 is announced ATI will fold, and be sent to the graveyard.

Once Nvidia is the only game in town, Apple stop pretending that Radeons are FirePros.

Anyone who likes nvidia cards, should wish that AMD stays within the competition. Anyone can imagine what will happen if nvidia (or any company for that matter) remains as the only player.
