It doesn't matter to me, not because I just got a MBP(which I did), but I don't use my MBP for gaming. I'd rather get a faster CPU then a faster GPU.
Key phrases from that are "2x faster than current intel graphics" and "at the very low end."
Current graphics are lousy. And "very low end," is that what 13inch mbp's are? I would think that a $1200 notebook is note considered a "very low end" computer.
I hope you're right but I doubt it.With SB as it is (with GPU and Memory Controller/Northbridge on CPU), that may free up enough space to cram a dedicated GPU into the 13" MBP.
The aluminum finish and the overall better design doesn't cover the $1500 (!!!!!!) CDN premium I pay over his computer. That's just ridiculous how Apple gets away with this kind of crap.
But wouldn't you just rather have BOTH? Thats what hardware updates are for!![]()
Yes, and that Dell is a heavy brick with a lousy screen, a lousy keyboard and an unusable trackpad. Plus it will last about two years before burning out. You get what you pay for. Every Mac laptop I've bought since the mid 90's is still running. My friends are constantly having to replace their Dells after about 18 months. I'll gladly pay extra for a machine that works, is easy to use and lasts.
Hurraaaaahhhh!!!!!!!! Yaaaaaaayyyyy!!!!!
ATI Graphics have had higher performance for their TDP for ages. Would be awesome to have an ATI card in the 15 and 17" MB Pros. Especially if they remove the OD and fit in a larger cooling system to allow for a higher TDP chip.
The Current in the MBP is NVidia 330m is 23w TDP
The current ATI 5750m is 25w TDP
The current ATI 5770m is 30w TDP
The new ATI 6570m is 25w TDP (probably)
The future ATI 6750m is 25w TDP (probably)
The future ATI 6770m is 30w TDP (probably)
If they put a 6770m in I will send Steveekins flowers and a fruit basket. But even a 6750m would be better than the Nvidia 425m they may put in if they stick with them.
*TDP = Thermal Design Power = How much heat in watts is generated at full load.
Thanks for that info - perhaps the 6770 will be doable with the power savings of the new SB and possible removal of the ODD!!! I really hope so because then we'll have some serious graphics power.
Just offhand, does anyone know if the new 6m parts support openCL? Seems to be a big deal for the future of OS X...
OpenCL
requires one of the following graphics cards or graphics processors:
NVIDIA GeForce 320M, GeForce GT 330M, GeForce 9400M, GeForce 9600M GT, GeForce 8600M GT, GeForce GT 120, GeForce GT 130, GeForce GTX 285, GeForce 8800 GT, GeForce 8800 GS, Quadro FX 4800, Quadro FX5600
ATI Radeon HD 4670, ATI Radeon HD 4850, Radeon HD 4870, ATI Radeon HD 5670, ATI Radeon HD 5750, ATI Radeon HD 5770, ATI Radeon HD 5870
