I have a 2010 Mac Pro that I used mostly for AVID Media Composer editing. But I always have to convert full rez Pro Res Quicktimes down to small web viewable files. I know that Adobe Media Encoder CC 2014 supports CUDA and OPENCL based conversions.

I have a Radeon 7950 right now (4k Open CL 3GB memory card) and in Adobe Media Encoder CC 2014 it takes 5min to convert a 5min file. But on another slower 2009 Mac with slower specs I have with a GTX 680 (newer card) the file converts in 1.5min. But I don't want to buy a GTX 680. I know the GTX 680 has about 1500 cuda cores, the GTX 570 has near 500.

Do you guys think its better to keep my RADEON 7950 or sell it and get a GTX 570 with Cuda in my computer? I'm wondering if the GTX 570 with its CUDA support will almost perform like the GTX 680 for converting files, and be faster than the newer 7950 I already have since the program will use more of the video card?

The core count can't be compared directly between 570 and 680 dual to they have different architecture.

For computation, 570 should perform better than 680.
