Hi all, it looks like the latest update of Sonoma has broken my WX9100 (which was working fine up till around 14.2(or .3)?

I used to have my W5500X in Slot 1, and the WX9100 in slot 3 and it was all working fine with three displays running 4k off the 9100. Then with recent updates to Sonoma, I'd have to take the top cover off, let it sit for a bit, and then plug everything back in to the 9100 and they would start working again. With 14.5 it looks like it's killed off the usage of the 9100, no matter if I had the 5500 in slot 1, or not. I've tried with the 5500 in slot 1, not in slot 1 and the 9100 in either slot 1 or 3 and I get no display. I can hear the beep at the login screen, but nothing will display. Also if the 9100 is in slot 3, MacOS doesn't see it in the PCI Slot Utility. It *used* to see it, but it doesn't as of 14.5

My thoughts are:

  • I go back to MacOS 13?
  • Or if I want to stay on Sonoma, what's the best card to get to continue to run my three screens. At the moment the 5500 can only run the two
  • Or, I get another W5500X card and run two of them for the three screens?
  • Or can someone point me in the general direction to try and get the 9100 to work again in Sonoma?

Thoughts please?

Could you get an MPX module like W6800X from eBay? It won't be new but should solve the problem.

It will have support for up to six 4K displays, three 5K displays or three Pro Display XDRs.

Any of the Apple specific cards look hard to find new. They are out of stock everywhere.

Had a Quick Look on eBay and for $4k, that’s a very much last final option. Any thoughts about the 6900? I can get them here for around $1k but not sure if they’re 100% working in Sonoma?

I’m still using mine and it seems to still work fine. My slot 1 is 6900xt, and I think 9100 is slot 3.
