On phone/hold with Apple re: American Express notifying me the card is removed from Apple Watch, no longer will use my AE card via Apple Pay because, AE rep says, "Apple changed something yesterday."

Apparently still fine on iPhone.

The AE email came just before midnight Tuesday. Saw this a.m. and called AE. They confirmed as stated above "Apple did something yesterday."

Still on hold with Apple.

off hold with Apple, awaiting callback, rep knows nothing but is checking :)
back when I know something. maybe reload issue after 1.0.1 update.

edit: Rep called back to confirm I wasn't using an AE Corporate Platinum (I wish!). Nope, just an average rewards card totally accepted before May 27 (I've had the watch since 4/24.)

Keep us posted. I've got an AE card on Apple Pay on iPhone. I had not gotten around to setting up Apple Pay on my watch yet and neither has my husband.
 
I have an AmEx premiere rewards gold card on my phone. So far, so good. I'd add it to the watch to test, but I don't have the card handy.
 
Just used Amex on watch to get a salad at McDonald's (damn this fitness app).. Worked fine
 
Hopefully just a silly goof on Amex part. Hope no one else gets Amex email as I described in OP.

Next time I'm in a Walgreen's I'll see if still works despite goofy email.
