American Express today announced that the company is the first to introduce corporate credit card support with Apple Pay. The new addition will let customers pay at locations and within apps that support the contactless payments service with an eligible American Express corporate credit card.

"Businesses today are going digital, and American Express is at the forefront of digital innovation, helping companies to streamline their payments systems and simplify their processes," said Greg Keeley, Executive Vice President, Global Corporate Payments, American Express. "We continue to invest and expand digital offerings for our corporate customers in ways that maximize security and enhance the user experience."
All corporate cards that will work with Apple Pay include: American Express Corporate Green Card; American Express Corporate Gold Card; American Express Corporate Platinum Card; American Express Corporate Centurion Card; American Express/Business Extra Corporate Card; and the American Express Corporate Defined Expense Program Corporate Card. Apple Pay has been expanding ever since its launch last October, with more retailers and financial institutions debuting support for the service as time goes on.

Is the image an official image from Apple or a MR mockup? I see a discover card...

Hopefully US Bank Corporate Visa isn't far behind! Not really sure why "Corporate" cards seem to have an extra technical hurdle. It can't really be based on the corporate customers not allowing it, or then they would roll out corporation by corporation rather than card issuer by card issuer.

I do know that corporate cards do somehow flag as being special....when I've used mine at Home Depot and other places, the cashier asks if I want to include a PO Number. Maybe ApplePay has to create a token card number that still flags as a corporate card and allows this data to be passed back to the company.

Looks like it might be an image from the iOS 9 intro that talked about Discover being added as well as Loyalty Cards (as it also shows Walgreen's, Panera's and Duncan Donuts' Loyalty programs) and Store Cards (Penneys and Kohls).

I believe they also need to provide payment alerts somehow tied into the payment processor portion of the transaction. Like how you receive a little notification that your card was used, it needs to go to other places. 10 months was a long time to wait for this - I'll put it to use immediately.

well I will be traveling to chicago in a couple of weeks for business. Will install my Amex and see how it fairs. Frankly I am expecting it to not work at all -- Amex is accepted in less places compared to Visa and MC. And so far unless I go to McDonalds for lunch I don't know of where else I will be able to use the Amex. Basically this is a whiny post about merchants not taking Apple Pay. I will go now.

I'd imagine there was a decent amount of work getting the verification process to work the right way. When you add a personal card to verify, frequently you have to get a text message or email to the account holder's contact information, which for corporate cards would probably just be the AR department.

Excellent point...hadn't thought of that. Anyone out there with a Corporate Amex willing to share how verification works for you?

I had a Corporate Amex about 9 years ago. As I recall, I think I was able to add it to my online profile that included my personal Amex card....so at least there was a link to me personally. This would have allowed Amex to send a verification message to me instead of my company. Wondering if that's what they're doing? My Corporate Visa offers no personal online access....so that would make this more difficult.

But not the serve card?
Would like to see the Serve card as well

Now just need to add Serve by American Express
Hopefully Serve will be added soon, I see no reason why it shouldn't be

The pictures show a Panera rewards card (My Panera) but so far have been unable to add my card. (BTW, I have iOS 9 on my iPhone) I do have the Walgreen's, AMC Stubs, Speedway "Speedy Rewards" as well as my Starbucks cards. So it is possible that the Rewards cards can be added.

This is exactly as I was saying - I do know that the verification/notification goes to more than just you. However, you can also still add the Corporate AMEX to your online profile. In my company, expense reports are derived directly from your AMEX billing but also available to you alongside your personal cards.

That's why people aren't using Apple Pay. They want to be stingy on who can use it and when.

Oh well. I'm not begging people to take my money. Lol

What rewards card? iOS 9 was supposed to allow you to add something new to Apple Pay but I forgot what it was. I think it's rewards cards. But different than what we already had.

From the iOS 9 features page linked above:

Now you can use Apple Pay to make purchases with your Discover card or store credit cards, like Kohl’s Charge or JCPenney Credit Card. Add reward cards, like Dunkin’ Donuts DD Perks, Walgreens Balance Rewards, and MyPanera, to yourWallet app and receive and redeem rewards using Apple Pay. And now you can just double-click the Home button when your iPhone is locked to access Wallet and quickly pay with Apple Pay.

So I believe it's supposed to make rewards transactions seamless. You just pay with ApplePay at said merchant and your rewards info is seamlessly exchanged as well. No opening passbook, scanning rewards card, then trying to ApplePay, etc. Just pay with ApplePay and you also get your points automatically.

CM,

I'm interested in your experience, so let us know when you get back. Mainly (as I've put in other posts), look for terminals with the card-wifi logo on it, and try it there. The Apple Pay sticker is just a guarantee that it will work there, but the logo aforementioned means that it most likely will. Most (major) gas stations have them, I haven't seen them at restaurants (McD's excepted), and I've seen them at grocery stores.

An odd thing happened at work. The vending machines have credit card sliders, and they don't take my Credit Union card (odd, as the place I work is the first name of the credit union), but when I use Apple Pay on these machines, it works flawlessly.

With an Apple Watch, it's fun to pay for stuff... (double click button, wave it at the terminal, watch the amazement on clerks' faces)

As for AMEX Corporate, I hope you have a good experience, and please let us know...

My jailbreaking days ended when I put my credit and debit cards on my phone.

I don't pretend to know the continued draw of jailbreaking. I did it on an iPhone 3GS, because I wanted to use T-Mobile when AT&T was the exclusive carrier. But I haven't seen any need to use it since Verizon got the iPhone. Not worth the instability, hassles and insecurity, IMO.

But that's what I don't get. Don't we already have DD Perks in Passbook? I scan my card when I go there, if it's not DD Perks, then what card do I have?

Walgreens Balance rewards, I already have that.

The only one I don't have is Panera.
