Great thread! And wow, you have a huge family  But, I guess that is what Thanksgiving is for. My mom still complains that she misses the "big family" feel of Thanksgiving from her childhood. Most of our family is scattered all over the world (Arizona, Florida, Germany, and even New Zealand, which is still weird to me....I am still tickled every time I speak to my cousins who all have an accent, since they were born there).

I am flying home to Atlanta on Tuesday, which will be the first time I've been home since August. My brother and his girlfriend (like a sister), unfortunately will be staying in NYC :(. My grandmother who lives an hour a way from Atlanta is coming for Thanksgiving, so it will be her, me, and my parents, and perhaps a couple family friends. Then, the next day I'm going to my friend's birthday/reunion party to catch up with all my HS friends.

Only seven at our dinner. We'll just go across town to my mom's. It will be my oldest brother, parents, and my wife and two kids. My middle brother and his wife will come Christmas. I think I'd go nuts with 20 people around! Great food, though. It's fun watching my kids (12 & 7) taste new traditional foods each year.

This is my first year as a teacher, so I get the whole week off. Yay!

I'm going to a Thanksgiving dinner party hosted by one of my American mates. Basically I'm going to drink myself stupid and eat mountains of pumpkin pie.

I loves me some pumpkin pie.

Last year a man from Adelaide had Thanksgiving dinner us. It was pretty fun.

Pumpkin pie is soooo good.

Nothing. My girlfriend is on deployment to the Middle East. I am hoping she will be back before Christmas.

Travel to Colombia. The thought of having to be away from the kids (working) and extended family scattered about in MA, MI, TN and MO, has me a little bummed going in to next week. But, that's life. We'll see if we can't make it up over the Christmas holidays.

Isn't it just. I lurve it.

Ever since I was a little Air Force Brat running around Phoenix I've loved eating pumpkin pie. It's amazing how much trouble I have convincing all the Aussies over here as to it's incredible-ness.

Sometimes it's tough being an Aussie - nobody eats pumpkin pie over here, we sold it in a café I used to work in and nobody bought it so I'd take it all home at the end of the day for free.

Actually, that wasn't too bad at all. :D

Holy ****. What a world we live in. I truly hope she gets thorough unscathed. Your Mum fighting? I can't get my head round that. That's even before discussing the fact she shouldn't have been sent there in the first place...

I'm not American, so shoot me. Oops. Bad choice of words. :(

You mean to protect your freedom on this forum or your Mum's fighting for your freedom in Iraq? Of course I knew she wasn't hand-to-hand fighting, but she should be home with her family - not where she is. IMHO.

I'm interested in what you mean by:

to protect my freedom from the government
[which government, protect in what way?]

and so she doesnt get labled as havin a son with radical opinions
[who would label you, and what kind of radical opinions?]

Just interested and asking for clarification. I'm not trying to antogonize you so no need to flame me :D

Move north! Canada can be expensive, but we are actually an independent nation, regardless of what some people and their American cronies seem to think!

I have a store that sells the pumpkin puree for pie... hmm, perhaps I'll attempt one since like you, I've loved it since first taste but it's v tough to get over here. I wonder if the local to work specialist bakery might be doing it this week since there are a fair number of Americans in that part of town.

I was supposed to be at Heathrow airport right about now to fly out for Rice's retirement ceremony at the Niners game followed by Thanksgiving in California... :D but I'm not :(

Pumpkin pie...ahh. I like cranberry sauce and wild rice. And of course, turkey and stuffing.

Thanksgiving

Well I am the grandpa! They all come to my house and I cook the turkey, cranberry sauce, dressing etc and we enjoy a good wine with it all. Then I listen to all my grandsons, full of testosterone and wine, and what they are all so passionate about this year. They are collage students, with one just out of school, and everything is so black and white since they haven't come up against all the gray areas yet. It is so much like this forum. I love to read it everyday, and enjoy all the passion about computers, which I share, as well as all the youth. Keep it up and never lose what you have now. Happy Thanksgiving to all our overseas friends!:D
