Both my personal and business AMEX Cards were deactivated on my iPhone X in ApplePay. They show as “Unavailable” in the Wallet section of Settings. If I try to remove the cards I get a popup saying “Card in Transit: This card is currently being used on a journey. Complete the journey before trying to remove this card.” I’ve never used either card for transit.

Both cards are still installed and working fine on my Apple Watch.

I am suffering from exactly the same problem, only on the IOS 14 device... I raised an issue with the feedback tool...(FB7796509)

Mine worked fine, until I got an email from AMEX saying the card had been removed.... when I went to the wallet it is stil there but simply states unavailable... when I tried to remove it I got the same error as @BruiserB .. If I try to re-add the same card it times out with an error... on my watch (v6) and my work iPhone (ios13) everything is working just fine with these two AMEX cards....

Same issue as above, and AMEX customer support has no idea how to resolve this. Cannot remove the card, cannot add the same card again. All other credit cards working fine. Any suggestions?

I'm guessing wait for a future iOS update. At least my watch on WatchOS 7 works....Amex is the card I always use at the grocery store and is actually one of my most commonly used ApplePay cards. Using my watch is more convenient most of the time anyway.

Why would you call Amex to solve a problem on a Beta OS that's not available to the public?

Actually !! I can’t remove the troubled Amex card , but I could now re-add it ... I used the Amex app to re-add the card and it did ... same card over the top of the troubled one ... now the card is active in my wallet again!!

I had 8 Amex cards in Apple Pay. For 2 of them (both Gold) I received notifications that they had been removed. Running iOS 14.

Yes! This now worked for me. Initially couldn't do it as I had 12 cards already active on my phone (including the 2 'dead' Amex's). So I turned off Apple Cash in wallet settings which removed that card. Then using the Amex App, under Accounts, there is an ApplePay menu. That showed both of my cards as both active and eligible to install. I clicked on them under the eligible to install section and it went through verification and re-added each one. The Amex App then showed both cards as installed twice on my phone but I closed and reopened the Amex App and now they each show just once. Seem to be back to normal now!

Then I went back to settings and re-turned-on Apple Cash and it re-added the card for that.
