Aloha everyone,

I purchased my MacBook Pro last October and have had no issues with it (other than self-inflicted ones 😀), so imagine my surprise when, after using Software Update to apply the 10.4.10 update, the capacitance (courtesy Coconut Battery) of my battery dropped from 90% to just 63%!!!

Not knowing exactly what to do, and hoping that the issue did not lie with my battery, I downloaded the combo update - all 283MB of it!!! Following its install, the capacitance showed 89%, which is what I expected to see.

I've heard that running the combo update vice the "normal", smaller update is actually better, but I've never had any issues just using Software Update. From now on, however, I'm going to download the combo update and run its installer.

It's unlikely a system update would wreck your battery. Have you been calibrating it regularly?
