All the iPhone XR gives up to the 8+ is screen resolution. If the XR had the same PPI as the 8+ (401 ppi), there is nothing else on the XR that feels like a compromise and would have the most perfect phone you could get this year.

Or you can say an iPhone XS (medium) with 6.1 in screen.

People will complain about the black thick borders , lack of portrait for animals and objects. Single camera. Etc....

The thing they really got wrong with Xr was the price...
One can hope that they reflect on the blunder but perhaps they have driven away a lot of people to Huawei & Samsung already

720p = 1280*720 = 921,600 pixels
iPhone Xr’s display = 1792*828 = 1,483,776 pixels

According to OP,
921,600 = 1,483,776 therefore
1,483,776 - 921,600 = 0
562,176 = 0

Makes sense.

Text is physical smaller on a XR’s display compared to an iPhone 7 yes? If so, you would need to hold the display closer to your face which would make the real world usage case of the XR worse at 325 PPI.

Why is the text smaller?

No, the text size is the same. Font sizes are standard.

Users tend to hold larger displays further away from their eyes.

What does your stupid nonsensical post have to do with my OP? You and the people up voting your post need better reading comprehension skills. :smh:

Sounds like that was probably meant for a somewhat similar but different thread, like the one at https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/so-xr’s-screen-is-only-720p.2136774/

Screen is good enough for most users. The price is too high.

I personally would like it a bit thicker (as thick as the camera bump). That would allow for less expensive components and easier manufacturing and maybe even a bit larger battery. This in turn would allow for a much lower price.

I get this is a tech site, and people here are more inclined to argue over topics like resolution, PPI, ect. But truthfully, I don’t think the consumer outside a site like this, they _don’t_ care. They just simply see a phone that meets their expectations in terms of LCD display that looks like what they have been used to primarily in the past.

I think that for this year you refer to 2018... notch is getting old this year.
The curious is that this year it will get an Oled screen for the same price. Magic.

Screen is too narrow for me. I chose an 8+ over this upgrading from a 6+. Just love the form factor too much. Also hate that notch. Although the screen is taller the curved edges mean that any useful UI is limited to the middle portion of the screen anyway. Dual lens is also a big bonus on the 8+. 3D Touch I could probably live without.

Also why do we get a landscape mode for messages but not for mail? Wierd.

I will sacrifice 2 millimeters of thickness for a 4000 mA battery. I wanna come home after work. And have 85% battery.

For the record I only up voted this bc I lol’d.

Not taking sides here or saying it has anything to do with OP or the topic.

The notch is getting old? What does that even mean? I don’t think the notch plays a role for anyone outside this forum, and it doesn’t seem to even be a topic of discussion really.
