an iTunes update wrecked my library

I installed an iTunes update and nothing was the same again. All my library was lost. I scanned the hard drive and there is a new library now, different from what i had before. No ratings, different order etc. Is there something i can do to retrieve the old library?
Also i have an iPodnano that was synced with the iTunes library!
I have TMachine that keeps file backups, might it be of any use?

Perhaps the library file is lost or corrupted? Any idea where i can look for an older copy using TMachine?

Can anyone hep me on this, or could it be that im not clear on this subject? 🙁
