Personally I loved my WIMM One ($199) developer watch, which was more powerful than any of the others, because it included WiFi, so it could update its news readers, weather, etc without needing a phone mothership for comms.

I had no problem creating my own test app for it, and it included a watchface SDK.

Unfortunately, (WIMM Labs) was bought up by someone unknown.

Whoa. Google just confirmed that they're the ones who bought WIMM Labs last year.

Very interesting. Google must have a watch project going, as well as Glass.

$199? it's apple, not any chinese manufacturer(and i dont mean that in a bad way), dont expect anything under $350 from apple. if they can price their "low-cost" iphone at almost $600 i dont think they will price their smartwatch at $199.

am interested in seeing what is in store....

I have a Jawbone UP2, and love it. The size, form and function are pretty much perfect. What is missing though is an integrated GPS mapping feature (yes, there are 3rd party apps that interface with it). Currently I run with my iPhone, but would love to shed that weight if I could. If it has to tether via lowpower Bluetooth, I am not sure about it. Pricepoint at $199 isn't horrible, considering the UP2 is $129.... cheaper would be better.

For everyone that goes meh, what you have to realize is the revolution that wearable computing can bring. Remember, they said the same about the iPod, iTunes, iPhone, etc. Even with the failed Quicktake camera, it pointed the way down the path to what can be (not be, at version 1.0).

Regarding the mockups, the curved thing is probably about as likely as the flying cars we are all supposed to have by now (sadly), the blocky one seems too close to what already exists with the hacked Nanos. The Samsung "leaked" images for theirs are probably fake (unless they are complete idiots). Who wants to strap a 3" screen to their wrist?? Dubious on that one. http://venturebeat.com/2013/09/01/t...twatch-a-blocky-health-tracker-with-a-camera/
