Yay

The only major carrier that seems to care about its customers anymore. At least as far as I understand.

This would be interesting to me if Sprint actually had reasonable family plans. To get a smartphone, you need the everything data family plan, which is $30 more a month. But, by going from everything messaging to everything data, you change your per line add on cost from $10 to $20, regardless of the usage of data or even if there is a smartphone on the line. Then if you actually want a smart phone, thats another $10 per month fee. Suddenly, Sprint, whose only attraction is really the prices, doesnt have that great of prices. It would actually be cheaper for me to get my own ~$70/month plan from them than it would be to get a smartphone on my family plan. Absolutely ridiculous, and I think I'll pass on it in favor of AT&T's superior phone selection, $2 higher monthly price, the fact that they actually have a logical system where you add services per line, and that their customer service hasn't been completely inept (yet).

In my experience, Sprint has such horrible coverage that even the cheap plan is not worth all the dropped calls. Can't really use data when you're constantly being disconnected. People complain about AT&T, but I doubt those people have ever been on Sprint. YMMV, but that is my experience, and the experience of everyone I've known on Sprint. They've gotten to the point where they're just throwing features at their customers to try to get them to not switch. We used to be on Sprint, and that's what they did. Even a mention of switching was enough for them to throw something pleasant at you, but as I said, their service was useless no matter how many features they threw at us.

I just went to their website to get up to date on any changes since I last used them, and the website took about 2-3 3-4 4-5 minutes to load. Add that to the pile.

EDIT: Thought it was about done loading a few times, guess not.

Location, location, location. It's all about where you live. For me it's great, but I don't live in Brooklyn.

Yeah.... but ....

I fear that soon after Sprint would get the iPhone, you'd see the unlimited data plan vanish. Sprint already started tacking on that $10/month surcharge for any of their phones with 4G network capabilities, regardless of how often you actually USE it (even if you live in areas where the 4G network isn't even rolled out yet!).

It wouldn't be a big stretch to see them institute special plans or fees for the iPhone....

Sprint's only real motivation for doing the truly unlimited data packages they've got now is the fact that they're not considered one of the top carriers. Verizon and AT&T (soon to take over T-Mobile as well) have a much larger subscriber base. That and by extension, the fact that they don't really have a great selection of handsets that encourage people to USE their data plans heavily.... The Evo was their "rockstar" phone, but it's over a year old now -- and the refreshes/upgrades to it are largely fluff. (The best you've got is a 3D capable version of the Evo 4G? Seriously?! WHO really CARES?! I'd rather watch a video or movie on a larger screen than on that little display, just to say it's in 3D! And the "Shift"? Basically just another Evo with a slider keyboard that gets a little bit lower rating than the original model in all the user reviews.... big whoop.)

This would definitely be good, especially if Sprint chooses not to be greedy [like AT&T/Verizon] and keep their prices as is.

I'm willing to bet that T-Mobile could still support itself as an individual company if they got the iPhone (and subsequently would not need to sell to AT&T). Heck, I'd consider switching to T-Mobile if they got the iPhone (though I am an AT&T customer for the past 7 years).

Too bad it will be too late for T-Mobile by then.

Glad to see it on Sprint though. I like my GSM phone and it's features, but perhaps I would buy it.

Now how about a VirginMobile or Boost iPhone? (If it's on Sprint anyway...)

THAT would probably get me to finally jump ship to an iPhone.

As far as I know, Sprint's network is still a lot stronger than AT&T's too. Never really heard complaints about it, and I know my Sprint Kindle got reception everywhere.

True, but when you compare plan for plan with any more than 1 smartphone per family plan line AT&T is far more expensive. It's $25 per line for only 2GB of data usage for smartphones (or iPhone), and $45 per line for 4GB of usage. That's not including text messages too.

By the end of it, I'd be paying almost $250 per month for 3 phones and insurance while I am only paying $180 on Sprint for much more.

In my experience, Sprint has such horrible coverage that even the cheap plan is not worth all the dropped calls.

This is of course also completely up to where you are located. In Baltimore, I've been able to make calls, send texts, and download data with no bars on my phone.

The one thing I do hate about Sprint is its dead spots. Fall into one for only a second and your call will be dropped, even if you regain a signal a few seconds later.

Agreed!

But, back on topic, Sprint is the last major carrier of the big three that didn't get the iPhone, so I am sure Apple will want to get even more cash from users like myself, that don't believe in stepping down to AT&T for any phone, or paying $$$$$ for Verizon.

if Sprint gets the iPhone before Christmas I'd be pissed! I left their great service for AT&T for the iPhone because I never thought they would get it.

Well, worst case I guess you could break contract...hopefully prorated a bit.

I'm kind of excited by this since it seems like Sprint's coverage and prices are better...although I keep forgetting they tack an extra $10 on now.

All unlimited data plans are going to vanish eventually, as more smartphones and tablets dot the landscape. For those who have them now, enjoy.

Sounds good, but I can't enjoy Sprint unlimited Internet without an iPhone.

As a 10+ yr sprint customer then I'm given a subsidied phone ever 12mo an tons of accumulated discounts, but I currently use a horrible launch day Palm Pre because there has never been a phone I liked on Sprint. So if it means that I lose out on unlimited but get a Sprint iPhone then I'll gladly do it because my bill would still be 20-30% less than if I switch to Verizon.
