Analysts can believe whatever they want as long as it keeps driving AAPL to all time highs.

I see a massively upgraded Apple TV that is rebranded the iP-TV. It will not hit the market until people have the bandwidth to handle it. I can see it being bundled with U-verse.

I have said this since the release of the 27" iMac and wall mount. I think they wanted to 'test the waters' of people who might use it as a TV.

Ladies and gentlemen...we now know what the next big "rumor" will be post-iPad.

years and years...of this stuff.

I hope we see something from Apple, although not necessarily an all-in-one device like a TV.

I would really like to see a more refined Apple TV that does have things such as an all you can eat season pass to your favorite network shows.

While we're at it let's have blu-ray on our Apple products, it's time!

Dont care much what this guy has to say or what his opinion is, read few of his articles and im not a fan. But as far as the TV i doubt that, reinvented appleTV box...i would believe that.

Doubt it. The network isn't capable of supporting streaming video games yet. Besides, will people really pay 4x the price for a 32" TV? Apple will need to somehow make consumers think that their TV is more than a $500 TV + $200 Apple TV.

However, this does appear to be the direction APPLE INC is going lately.

Computers? i5? Bahhh, who needs them!

I'm with you on the price point, but the video games would live on the device the same way they do on your iPhone, Playstation, etc., so I don't really see that being a problem.

TV makes sense for Apple for a lot of reasons:

* It fits Apple's MO: take a consumer product that's already on the market, apply content to make the product more useful, add UI special sauce to make the product easier to use, and relaunch it. That's more or less what Apple did with its computers and exactly what it did with the iPod, iPhone and iPad.

* The HDTV market is big, fat target. Assuming an average price of $500 and a market with annual sales of 32.4M units, Apple could add $16B in annual revenue with a 10% share of that market.

* The additional recurring revenue from stealing cable and satellite subscribers could be gigantic, and Apple is already set up to market that content as available on all its products.

A computer, that can do tv shows, and can have a TV receiver. They are already sold by Apple. Geez

I'd rather go with established TV brands.. they would probably be better quality ( remembering the Apple boombox, which failed ).

Also, I wouldn't want a TV locked into Apple , or anyone else for that matter.

Good quality TV + Apple TV = Good

I'm ready to buy a 32" LCD TV for my kitchen. I want the ability to pull up movies from my NAS, and videos from sources like YouTube (pull up a recipe video, etc.)

I'm torn between getting a cheaper Samsung TV and then adding an external box like an Apple TV or a Mac Mini, or buying a TV like the Sony Bravia EX-308 which includes built-in DLNA and access to YouTube etc.

I predicted back in 1994 that someday we would get all of our television shows on-demand over the internet.

I anticpated they would have a launch day and regular airings, but as soon as that happened, they would also become available for streaming/viewing.

I am pretty shocked that we are not really close there yet 16 years later. Although this is potentially the kind of thing I was thinking about.

I just can't see access providers going along with this, especially since they are also often content providers. They should have always kept them separately. Now we are prevented from potentially having more affordable and totally on-demand programming because the carriers and content providers are the same people.

Apple is developing a television subscription service, a plan that has reportedly been placed on hold amid resistance from TV networks

The problem is, the television networks consider it to be sacrilege to not pay their dues to the almighty cable and satellite gods, because heaven forbid they should piss off €omcast!

Well, I am an Apple sucker, and I would buy it. Call it AppleView, iTV, iCast, iNetwork, or just Apple Network.

I doubt it's going to happen anytime soon. Right now there are so many competitors and consistently changing tech and that wouldn't fit Apple's business model. Apple would want to update it once every 18 months, and customers would wonder why they don't reduce the price on ancient technology.

People would buy it for three months and then buyers would move to the next new tv with twice the capabilities, and Apple would be like wtf, why aren't people buying this? Do we actually have to update it? That's no fair... we cannot make 900% margins like this! No fair no fair no fair, Steve yells... he's on the phone in a conference call with Sony, Vizio, Sharp and etc. WTF, why did you guys use a touch screen multitouch remote, you stole my tech! I am mad mad mad! All of you must burn with Google and their damn Nexus One.

I still see them developing a better AppleTV and letting us buy content and share it wirelessly between the AppleTV and iPad(s).

anyone else wish this guy would just shut up? he gets his little comments into every single oraface and its all bollox to be honest...

i dont get it...

Analyst continues to be an idiot.

Seriously, has this guy been right on anything? Why is he on page one?
