Apple really boxes themselves in (pun fully intended) with the shape of the iPhone.
It reminds me of the old DEVO song:
If Apple were to adopt a more sinuous shape that felt nicer in the hand, then variations and improvements to the form factor would be easy. But so long as they stick to the "squared-off, eight corners, 90-degree angle" aesthetic of the i4 and the i5, there's nowhere to go.
Agreed, but let's face it we're dealing here with a clueless, paralyzed company. Many power struggles going on right now at the top, despite the slurrish, comforting words of mr. Cook. Don't expect any revolutionary from Apple to come in 2013, they're just gonna play catching up with Samsung.
If I like the upcoming S4, I'll take that one as my next phone as replacement for my aging iPhone4. Never thought I would write something like this on these boards.

regardless, it's in the highest range it's been in for most of apples life. that's great.
if you think apple is worried about pandering to the worries of investors then you don't know apple. they worry about two things: 1) making great products. the best they can. 2) earning a profit from said products.
and they deliver on both -- apple is making the best products in its existence, and it's making the most profit in its existence. by the only metric that matters to business -- profit -- apple is doing smashingly and continues to dominate its industries, from pc to mobile.
That's still due to the legacy of mr. Jobs. That magic halo will be fading fast over the next 12 months and the stock market knows that.
