I have to upgrade my 1TB (mirrored) NAS sooner or later. Maybe wait until Black Friday? :p

Does anyone know if there's a way to buy the 6 bay without hard drives?

I've been playing with a 4 bay Pegasus R4 with four 6Gb/s SSDs. In RAID 0 mode, it's topping out at 870MB/s. There's definitely a bottleneck when only two 6G SSDs in RAID 0 set reach 866MB/s.

I noticed Anandtech used a quite small 2M test size when they reached 1000MB/s. I'm using test sizes ranging from 1G to 4G with apps like DiskTester, AJA System Test, and QuickBench -- to simulate HD video capture/playback.
