Enjoy it while you are young as it will change as you age.

BTW, been there done that so I know.

Also, you will start to feel blind at 20/25 to 20/30 because of everything that you can no longer see that you are used to seeing. The finite detail. The vivid colors. Yet compared to someone who really needs glasses, your vision will still be great.

Same here. I was something like 20/15 growing up. A bit of distance vision deterioration and astigmatism started in college, then I hit my 40s and presbyopia set in. My vision still isn't bad, but I still have the corrective lens restriction on my driver's and pilot's license and I'm not reading much without the bifocals.

I have both hypermetropia and astigmatism on both eyes but i've never worn glasses. When i was a kid i ordered a pair but the lens was too thick and too heavy so i was immediately put off.

I don't know why i can still see clearly, although my eyes get tired easily. But when am to the point were i can't see my nose i'll get laser treatment.

Back on the topic, i was never put off if a girl wore glasses or not. On the contrary i think it makes the other person more interesting in a way. Also there are so many designs, that nowadays glasses are more than an accessory rather than an aid. Pick something that makes you feel good. ;)

I wear glasses and I agree with that idea that these days, it's more of an accessory for a lot of people. I wear rimless glasses, and my prescription isn't bad, it's like -1 or something, and I've never had anyone be especially put off by them. Some people think that they make me look more scholarly when I wear them - I tried contacts and decided that putting glasses on and off was infinitely easier.

If you can choose the right glasses for you, they can really compliment your style.

I am myopic and astigmatic. I think my prescription is around -3.5, so fairly substantial but not crazy. I wear glasses and have done for the past 19 years; I would say I am much more comfy with them on than off. I tried contacts briefly, but at the time they did not fix my astigmatism so things were sill a bit blurry.

Now that I am an adult and I can afford nice glasses and am more confident in myself, I really don't care for people's negative opinions. Sure, I'd rather have perfect vision, but I am happy how I am. The only issue I have is with the thickness/strength of the lenses. Frames can look dead cool when you try them on in the shop when they are light and thin, and your eyes look normal-sized. But put some -3.5 lenses in them and woah! Bullet-proofs. Refraction from behind your glasses; small eyes to an observer.

Still, small price to pay for decent vision. Get as thin a lens as you can afford, but don't go crazy on the 5% thinner version that costs 100% more than the next one down the range. And anti-reflective/anti-scratch coating is a must. I splashed out £350 on my current specs - I figure looks matter, whether we like it or not, and wearing them all my waking day I can hardly say I don't get my money's worth.

-3.5 is not that thick of a lens. My lens are -3.00 and -3.25 and the diffence bettween my omms -1.00 and -1.25 is not that much if really noticible and it hardly noticible comparing it ot my dads -6.00 and -6.5.

Now I know abtou are the -3.00 range the abilty to read with out corrective lens appears and I know with my lens I have to find my glass more my touch and feel than my sight since I can my vision is to weak to see them on the desk any more. Now I can still move around the house and semi funtion but I pretty blind with out my glasses on (my dad on the other had is legally blind with out corrective lens)

As for lens I say go with polycarbaint (pretty common to use today) It is a strong light materical that is scratch restante. Glass is no longer used (And any desent eye doctor would never use it, to heavy expeises and breaks) and plastic is no long really use. Most have move to polycarbanit and high index ones. I like polycarbanit because I am pretty rough and they are among the strongest lens you can get and the material it self is scratch restantain.

I don't think people look any different. Except some girls look way hotter when they wear glasses. I personally prefer contacts over glasses. I get the full view in focus. Much more comfortable too.

I have glasses. I do fine without them though. The doctor said it was my choice pretty much.

Astigmatism + funny shaped eyeball = no contacts. :D
There are contact lenses for astigmatism.

I've stopped using contacts though. They make my eyes get red immediately. I've developed an alergy to them, apparently.

Yeah but they can get really expensive depending on how bad the astigmatism is, making it not worth it.

My contacts were special ones for astigmatism, they were more expensive than normal contacts, and you have to line them up a special way when you put them in - if they get knocked out of line then your vision is impaired. I agree it's not really worth the hassle.

Possible, but doubtful. When we're all in the same city we all go out together. And the wife calls her to chat of her own accord. It probably helps that the 'girlfriend' is a verified lesbian with a long-term girlfriend of her own. ;)

Too. Many. Jokes. Can't decide.

Used to wear contacts for a few years until I got a new pair of glasses that many said I looked great in. Well, that did it for me and now I am strictly glasses person. Also, I got tired of fiddling with the contacts everyday.

I wear glasses everyday...

...don't like hte thought of sticking things in my eyes every day

Glasses are fine as long as they are not like the ones worn by Dame Edna Everage or Elton John!

I wear glasses, and I like how they look most of the time. It just goes with my clothes well, and I don't mind looking more intellectual.

But I don't wear them when I go clubbing. I don't think they ring true with the ladies.

i used to wear glasses, but i switched to CRT contacts. They're hard contacts that you put in during the night and they temporarily reshape the cornea while you sleep. The perfect vision of contacts without the irritation. Not as dangerous as Lasik either. They are slightly more expensive than regular contacts but i think its worth it. The downside is that you have to sleep like a minimum of 8 hours to get 20/20 vision. I think it's ok that you don't though. I can see clearly after 7 hrs of sleep. After my first night I went to my optometrist and he said i had 20/15 VISION!!!

But I like glasses. Plus, they serve as minor eye protection. :p

Yeah, me and my mum were in a car crash, and they saved her eyes.
There was huge scrathes and lumps out where class from the windsheild had hit them:eek:

Otherwise I'm 20/20.

LOL. :)
I do actually wear glasses, I totally agree that they make little difference to your attractiveness, though I have been told I look different without them as i always wear them. I've never felt the urge to wear contacts, back to the OP, any girl who makes you try harder because you wear glasses is a bitch, and not worth the effort.

Wow I've never heard of these before. But what happens towards the end of the day? DOesn't your vision slowly deteriorate? Could get a bit tricky - not good enough to drive, but not bad enough to put your glasses on...
