It is a fact that you can hear more of the outside world. It is not a fact the product is not better, because this is not true for everyone. For me, it is a FACT that the ANC works better, no matter what your experience is. In other words: Keep your facts to yourself, I can’t use them.Lies a fact is the truth, with the new ones I can hear more of the outside world than the older ones, that’s not an opinion

New AirPods Pro 3s are better!ANC lets in low frequencies but only on the right side. I swapped ears and then the left side was affected. I’m at the Apple Store right now waiting for a genius to tell me they’re fine. If I can’t exchange them, I’m just gonna return them.
Trust me I already returned one pair and the second pair got the same issue after a little while. It comes and goes. It’s definitely software.I see this thread is a little old but I just got the app3’s and am disappointed in the anc. The regular noise cancellation mode is amazing. That tells me it’s not the fit, it’s a software issue.
I hope the direct deposit from Apple arrived on time.Got my 3's yesterday (I have the 2's as well) and I am hearing things in songs that I've never heard before, despite listening to them hundreds of times.
Took them to the gym this morning and with ANC on, I couldn't hear an outside peep. With the 2's, I could still hear the gym's house music bleeding in.
Is this still the case with conversational awareness turned off?Just to understand if mine are defected?
With ANC on I can hear people talk pretty good, I can hear my footsteps when out and running. Also the wind is hearable.
Of course, this is reduced with music on.
Is this a normal behavior for AP3?
I have this setting off.Is this still the case with conversational awareness turned off?
The Apple employee told me it was normal behavior and I was like, then why didn’t my old AirPods do it too?Another disappointing AirPods Pro 3 customer here. Same experiences as others in this thread.
ANC is inferior to both my pro 2s and my AirPods 4 with ANC.
Sound quality is ever so slightly improved over pro 2 but not enough to make a difference.
The ANC is the most disappointing though. Direct comparisons often have my AirPods 4 performing better.
The most unacceptable behaviour is the whooshing as outside noise bleeds in.
These are not working as advertised and / or claimed so I’ve returned them.
The guy in the Apple Store didn’t seem at all surprised either. He’s clearly not supposed to agree publicly but he did acknowledge that many customers have returned their pro 3s since they were launched.
ANC on my Pro 3s is terrible compared to my 2s or my Bose with ANC. They are okay at removing hums or low frequencies, but they do nothing to cancel out speech, music, etc. It is like conversational awareness is always on. I have checked this setting multiple times and tried other things, but nothing works. I would give my ACN on the 3s a 2/10. Worst of all my earbuds by far.Just to understand if mine are defected?

Mine work fine sometimes too. It’s just inconsistent. No reason why.I just got APP3 last night to see if they are better than the APP2. So far they are at least just as good if not better, but, most importantly, they fit my ears far better. My left ear with APP2 has always been problematic, and the APP2 fall out far more easily than I would like when I am doing yard work, for example. I've not used the APP3 for that yet, but will at some point soon.
I used Adaptive mode with the APP3 on a walk this morning, and it worked perfectly fine; then noise cancellation during an indoor cycling and then an elliptical workout - it was great, certainly in both cases not worse than the APP2, at both the noise of the machines and the voices on the TV that I had playing in front of me (I was listening to a podcast on the APP3.) Hearing enhancement in transparent mode is also working just fine.

Thank you for this reply but the ANC is fantastic when it’s working correctly. However, sometimes it just breaks and there’s almost nothing you can do to get it back. Just gotta wait it out. It’s not a fit issue as it will move around from ear to ear without even touching anything. You can still get APP2 around the interwebs. Sometimes fairly cheap (relatively) if you search hard enough.
Earbuds aren't that great at noise cancelation (compared to quality over the ear headphones) because they are dealing with all the worst case scenarios. Poor sound isolation, mic to driver separation, driver to ear separation, driver range, processing power, amount of mics, mic location (external and internal to hear what you are actually hearing after passive cancelation), sufficient power to block very loud sounds, etc etc.
Looking at this test.....

....shows the APP3 is better with ANC across all frequencies. This difference should range from slightly to significantly better with perceived sound. The APP3 have significantly better passive isolation as well especially for mid to high frequencies.
That said, if the APP3 don't fit as well as the APP2 all bets are off, they will have worse noise cancelation. Most of the audiophile articles I read go as far as reiterating how important it is to have the right tip to benefit from Apples ANC (even more so than other earbuds, not sure if this is a coincidence or if they are effected more).
