After much reading / thinking and comparing (Mac mini + Eizo? / iMac Pro? / iMac 2019?), I ordered a new 2019 iMac, with:
- i9 processor
- 64Gb RAM (OWC)
- Radeon Pro Vega 48
- 2 TB SSD
This should serve me well for the next couple of years.
Now I have to sell my late 2013 27" iMac (3Tb Fusion Drive / 32Gb RAM / i7 processor)

May I ask what you will use your iMac for? I got the i5 3,7Ghz model, with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD and I am extremely happy with it. I do not use my iMac for rendering or video editing, so I cannot really tell how well it would work for these kind of tasks, but I am using Safari with 20+ tabs open, Mail, Calendar, contacts, pages, Excel, numbers, 1Password are all running at the same time and the Mac will not pause at all. I also use a lot of Remote Desktop software, connecting to Windows Servers for management purposes. Nothing extremely demanding, but I have seen other computers be sluggish when running all of the above..

I use my iMac mainly for photography. Several programs like DXO Photolab2 / Affinity Photo / etc.). Sometimes many layers.
Apart from that I always try to buy full specked iMac. More future proof in several ways. I don’t know what I’ll do in the future (video??), programs may get more complicated and more “power” hungry and price will be better ofcourse, when I want to sell it again.

Very nice machine you ordered. I wish I could have added the 2TB SSD instead of 1TB SSD.
At the moment I use a 3 Tb Fusion drive. “Only” 1 Tb in use, but I think it’s more comfortable to have sufficient/ extra space. If there was a 3 Tb SSD in iMac 2019, I would maybe buy that one.
I don’t think I’ll notice a big speed difference (I find my Fusion Drive with 128Gb SSD already pretty fast). But, who knows...

Let us know how the heat goes when under load in your photography applications. That's a beast of an iMac. My buddy ordered a 27" i5 6-core with 2TB SSD, 580X, and he'll add aftermarket RAM up to 40GB. It's for music production, so it doesn't need the extras. Top notch spec though, OP!

Thank you Zwhaler. With buying a new Mac, I always try to buy full specked. As I said, I never know what I'll do in a couple of years. Hate to have a Mac that's not up to newer tasks.
