Had iPhones 5s, now 6s always naked and never really in the past 4 years dropped it where screen cracked. I babied them.

Now on my usual run at the beach, it slipped out of my hands while I was running and fell down on sandy asphalt.

Crack is pretty good on the left side, goes to the middle and up to the top, not completely shattered but noticeable.

I knew it was coming and I guess today is the day.

Any suggestions? Whether I should wait until the new iPhone comes out and fix the screen (it does not really bother me) or go ahead and replace it right now?

Is Apple Store the best choice for this?

Lesson learned, will invest in case :)

I would say if it does not bother you then leave it as it is. If you were going to sell it or trade it in then I would get it fixed. The Apple Store probably is the best but is expensive. I used a third party service once and they met me at a local mall and fixed my phone for $40.

I want to commend you on your attitude OP. I know I'd be super bummed but there's no point of screaming and moaning.. It's just a material item!

I'd personally wait till the 7 came out. 3 months!

Lol did not know I sounded anything like you said moaning or screaming haha. This comment made me laugh :)

I'm just fine and learned from this mistake by not having a case.

I am bummed but would be more bummed if this happens over and over again like it does to some people. Just like speeding tickets, some people just don't learn from getting it once.

Yeah, might as well wait :)

No you misunderstood! I'm glad you're not screaming or moaning! Most other people would be complaining!

Yeah 3 months and we'll have the new one it's worth waiting!

!

Complain to who? It's not Apples fault he dropped it.

And putting a case on it, might not have made a difference.

Getting the screen placed isn't overly expensive .../ matter-of-speaking/

Thanks OP. Good luck to ya.

I really enjoy many other posts from those that say, they would never use a screen protector or case because they never dropped their phones, than one day in the future, it happened, broke the screen or entire phone. Accidents can happen, maybe not now, but it can.

The silicone case also provides much better grip also over the naked iPhone 6S plus. I think the new silicone case looks great.

Personally I would wait for the new iPhone. It's probably released in a few months.

It depends on how it landed, but it sounds like the kind of spill that iPhone took wouldn't have been helped much by a screen protector. Asphalt is brutal--a small drop to asphalt crushed my 6Plus screen. That phone was kept in a folio case so I didn't bother with a screen protector, so of course it fell screen side down on asphalt when the case was opened. I do now use tempered glass on my SE and a film on my 6S Plus but those are just for scratch protection. I don't expect either to help much with a nasty fall.

If it's a clean single (not spider web) crack Apple should replace the screen for free. They consider this a defect.

I point this out because you should probably make sure it doesn't see more damage. Once it spiderwebs you're toast.

I am one of those never a case or screen protector and never have dropped a phone since having A cell since about 1993 or so. However if the day comes and it destroys the phone. Guess what they still make em so I go get another. Some people seem to think these things are irreplaceable pieces of art.
