If it's an hour flight, I don't think i would mind if it's cheap (i.e. around $100)

Would they limit carry on luggage, because so many people crammed into the plane would mean that it would quickly run out of storage for carry one..

I also question to safety of such a seat, either in turbulence or a hard landing. There's no protection for the back and neck.

It's also worth keeping in mind that booking a one hour flight doesn't guarantee you won't be spending five hours on the tarmac. After the 35th repetition of "Well, folks, we're still waiting for a gate to open up," that bicycle seat might not seem quite so luxurious anymore.

the ADA and ACAA will pretty much prevent any US carrier from adopting this, even if they wanted to. So no need to worry about this hitting the US. RyanAir, however, is fair game.

Also, keep in mind that this is just a patent application. I don't believe it has been allowed, let alone awarded yet.

Airbus has filed a patent for a new saddle like seat in order to cram more people into planes.

I know Spirit would love this seat because they already treat their passengers like cattle and maybe Ryanair would switch from 737's to A320's for this seat as well. I understand the industry only has a 1% profit margin so any ways to increase revenue/profits is welcome, but this is just ridiculous.

But hey, it might lower the ticket prices even more. That is the only thing people seem to care about these days( but then complain about the service that cheap ticket gets you ).

Yup.... I agree with the bolded section. But then again I had crappy service on a flight that wasn't bottom of the basement priced. "Sorry sir, pillows are for first class only!"

Man could you imagine if this is actually ever implemented! That 14 hour flight is going to seem like an eternity!

They need to start offering overhead compartment sleeping pads and start stacking customers on top of each other.

I mean, it could be worse.
