I'm hoping Nestle will arm a crapload of trucks with KitKat bars and go around distributing them to hungry Apple fans in line on 5S launch day :D

LOL....i think you just wrote the next Google commercial!
Distributing KiKat bars as they wait in line for the IP5s with a theme of "The Next Big Thing is coming....." oh and those handing out the KitKats can be wearing Google Glasses :)

I'm already loving the KitKat promotion.

Now there's an angle for a commercial:

"Look stupid while pushing an ad-sponsored operating system!"

yep! Can't wait for the next Windows phone commercials that will take advantage of this and poke fun.....

It's always been ironic that Google pushes systems with names of (mostly) unhealthy treats/snacks while going up against a company with the name of a fruit..not sure why it matters that it's a brand name candy/snack now vs. a generic name like jelly bean.

Ah well, what would we talk about if not for silly things like this? :)

Since its a point release but with new name I predict:

- A new more modern UI, just like iOS 7. Not a huge overhaul, just refresh it.
- Apart from that some minor new features: more customizations on the home screen, more Google Now features, etc.

Maybe there's a chance they add some big features, but we'll see.

I hope so. The boring robotic black needs to go. iOS 7 users have complained about too much white, I think Android needs more white

I wouldn't mind if Google made Android look more card based like Google Now or their latest YouTube Android app.

Something about the cards feel organized, structured, and still aesthetically pleasing in a simple and straight forward way. Subtle.

I'd be for that.

I agree completely. The card thing is elegant, and carries depth despite its simplicity. It's kind of there in Keep as well. This is the kind of basic theme that one could build a whole design/UI concept around IMO, precisely the kind of strategy I'd like to see brought to Android. To make things come together a bit - I find it astounding that Apple is still so incredibly far ahead when it comes to coherent OS design.

I wonder why Nestle owns Kit Kat everywhere else but here in the States!?

What kind of wierd arrangment is that!?

Hershey had a license to produce to KitKats in the US before Nestle bought the UK company that made them worldwide. They had to honor it.

Same with Rolo.

4.4 just came to mind but you're right it could be 5.0 especially if it comes with a major ui overhaul.

That's my guess.

This is all speculation, anyway. There's been no rumors or word of any redesign, has there? We're just purely going based on Google Now and a few other apps changing.

I guess it makes sense and I wouldn't mind it. But there's no rush, especially given how customizable Android already is.

Google has typically kept the design language between .X releases the same. I expect 4.4 to bring new features, more so than 4.2 and 4.3. Think about the update to 4.1. The speed enhancements were a big plus. But the overall design stayed about the same. That is because it was still 4.X, but the change in name brought unique features.

4.2 and 4.3 were minor and added nothing of major importance, hence there was no name change. 4.4 brings a name change but still on 4.X, so I think we can expect some cool features with the same design. A new design won't come til Google jumps to 5.0.
