Interesting. I assume there's an opt out available. Also, it's not clear if it's accurate and early enough to be effective.

Crowd sourced data from phones accelerometer everywhere plus speed of radio wave for alert is close to speed of light at ~300,000 km/s vs speed of seismic wave at ~14 km/s. Pretty straightforward why you'd want it on to get advance warning but it can be turned off.
