Is there any hack that makes the iphone keyboard work the way the android one does where u never have to lift your finger off the keypad? Or is that too advanced for the iphone keyboard at this time?

It's not the actual Android keyboard that allows that to happen - it's a technology called Swype.

As far I know, people have tried to port Swype to the iPhone, but nothing has been released.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

Yes, it's so 'advanced' that the people that brought touch phones to the masses can't figure it out.

Here! play around with this App for a while, get your fix of "swiping" ...find out that the App is pretty much useless, then go back to the normal iPhone Keyboard...then go back again to the app every time you feel the urge to "swipe" ..Basically this is not a solution to your needs but it's something you can play with.

Want an Android like keyboard, Go buy a freaking Android then!! :D

Well, this is the Hack sub forum. I'm sure it's possible, and could think of several ways that it could be implemented. The simplest being to pull up an overlay kbd via and activator up swipe. That said I'm not aware of such an app existing in cydia.
There is an official App Store app call Shapewriter that functions very similar to Swipe, but it's not an integrated kdb. You need to switch to Shapewriter, type what you want and then paste the text into the desired app. It works well for longer posts, but not really worth switching for quick entry.

Looks like it was removed from the app store.

I'm glad someone mentions androids swype keyboard here. Let me tell you buddy it's nothing to brag about. I owned a G2 HTC phone for a week & could not wait to get rid of that crap. Called myself getting one up on the new tech. The swype as they call it only slows you down & it's stupid, it's like playing tic tac toe on your keyboard. Apple iphone rules it's simple to use & in today's world simple is loud. What Google has is search & they need to stick with it. The battery life on android phones suck. The minute I unplug the charger the thing is drained. I could go on for days but don't have the time to waste. Apple stay far away from anything android it wont last.

I loled when i saw this a few years back when it was out for windows phones..pretty useless IMO

Swype is easily my favorite thing about Captivate I was playing with. I would rather have it on iOS than even a better notification system. Maybe since Apple is loosening up on their app store (New browsers, Google Voice, etc.), they might allow Swype in the future.
