I figured out a way to have android like notifications on iPhone using lockinfo and biteSMS (you can use iReal or even the standard messaging app)

the settings you want on in lockinfo are:
    lockscreen:
    lockscreen enabled
    reset visibility off
    block popups on
    quick dismiss on

    homescreen:
    homescreen disabled

    infoshade:
activation can be any you want, but to make it like android, have it swipe down from the status bar

    under plugins-sms:
set your tap to reply to biteSMS or iReal if you are using them, otherwise dont bother. If you're using the status bar icon from one of those apps, turn off statusbar icon, otherwise leave it on
also turn off mark as read

if you are using bitesms, turn off popups for the homescreen (and lockscreen if youd like)

now, when you get a text, the phone vibrates/makes noise, and a little icon appears in the statusbar. swiping down on the status bar brings up a "notification tray" that you can view the text in, quick reply, etc...

its a lot like android, and is very nice!

Open Terminal on your Mac. Type this: say -v "Cellos" "droid". SSH the sound into the /var/ file or wherever it goes. Profit?

i know, but I personally think lockinfo has more diversity to it
you can make it more than just notifications through extensions

This is sweet! Finally, texts won't interrupt my games but I can quick reply if I choose to. Great post!

actually, im not sure how well it will work with games since there is no statusbar

try using one of the volume button based activations instead...that might work with games

    Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

It's called Typophone 4. It's in Cydia. You need lockscreen clock hide too

Lockms has colors and comes in top & bottom, each with & without slide/ttu

typophone is an all white version of Lockms.

Typophone is the original. The creator of lockms just took Typophone, colorized it, and moved it to the bottom.
