I wonder if the OS will get a complete makeover ? Seems like Google does a total revamp of the OS one year, with two two releases after that, and then moves to a whole new redesign again;

- Ice Cream Sandwich was a big revamp, followed by bug patches and tweaks added in Jellybean and then KitKat
- Lollipop was a whole new redesign, followed by tweaks with Marshmallow and now Nougat
- Will O be the next major redesign ?

The funny thing is JB and KK were 4.x releases. So you wouldn't expect major enhancements visually. But since then they have gone full version numbers. Lollipop got a makeover with 5. MM didn't really with 6. Now Nougat is 7 and isn't really much visually, but a lot behind the scenes. So hard to say what they are going to do there.

Been wanting double tap to wake across every Android device. I thought it became basic by Lollipop but not really. While most OEMs use it now, there are still omissions from certain phones and brands (ie Samsung, Motorola).

Double tap to wake was actually found on Nokia N9 back in 2011. Then LG popularized it with the KnockOn and was featured on the G2. You would think all brands would just copy it. But alas, like dual front speakers, not everyone came on board.

I read Lumia 950 got double tap to wake because it was a requested feature. See how missed up that is when Nokia had it with certain Windows 8.1 phones only for Microsoft to remove it by Windows 10. More consistency with that feature. Motorola Display by nudging your phone is cool but not consistent enough. Double tap is still better.

Apple better implement it too for future iPhones if they plan to remove the physical home button and plan to use a capacitive home button/Touch ID. Should have more options waking up and turning off the screen.

Sadly even Nexus phones stopped doing the DT2W feature. Only way to use it on my 6P is installing a rooted .apk

I also wish the fingerprint scanner on back worked a little different. I'd like to just double tap it to wake the screen. I don't like how if setup as full fingerprint, it totally unlocks to the home screen. But if you tap just to get to the lock screen, and then swipe up it requires a pattern or password then.
