Go easy on her guys. Not everybody was blessed with Steve Job's public speaking ability. She will get better.

I happen to think she has excellent public speaking skills. I don't know if you've watched other videos of her or anything, but I think she does an amazing job.

Slow down angry speed reader… If you read some more I do mention the watches that were locked down.

Interacting with a watch on display DOES NOT allow for an adequite assessment of interacting with one on your wrist. You can not experience taptic feedback, you cannot experience the health monitoring and you can not experience interacting with it on your wrist (you know the way most people interact with their watches:) Not Genius :)

Ok but they wouldn't let you have a real world experience regardless. That was out of the question. Not so genius. You should've known that you weren't going to be able to mimic real world usage in a 15 minute appointment. So sorry. :D

I disagree. 15 minutes is quite a long time to demo an item, especially if the demo is guided by a trained sales associate. There is no excuse for demoing a dummy model.

I disagree. I don't think you can measure real world performance in 15 minutes. IMO that's just delusional. Apple gives you a 14 day return window on purpose.

I really don't like Angela. (Assuming she's as expensive as she is)

Edit: Because of her the weird training tactics (segregated consumers by class demographic)
And because the retail experience has declined since she's been head of retail

I agree that Apple is changing how customers are treated based on what they purchase (VIP services, etc), and I don't like the classism, either. But don't blame Angela; that strategy comes from the top, and from marketing (Phil Schiller). It's central to how the Watch is being marketed and sold: through the lens of fashion.

We can't really blame Angela for the stock shortages, either. That also falls on Tim, and on the COO.

What we can blame Angela for is not allowing people to try on the Watch before it went up for preorder. That was a horrible, horrible decision, as it left people to either buy both sizes, buy one and hope it fits, or wait for an in-store demo and not get a Watch until June or later.

Well, the problem is that there are so many variables of Apple Watch that is impossible for stores to have them, period. Online order is the only way.

Probably Steve Jobs would have release 3 colors, black, white and gold.... and have everybody in line, he loved lines. =)

But this 15 minutes includes trying on different models, different watch/band combinations. There's no way in less than 15 minutes you'd get a proper impression of how the watch works.

She seems like a cool person in the video. Typical Apple overuse of amazing, sensation, etc, etc. Did you catch all those etc's she used. :D

I see no reason to knock her for what she said. The whole watch Keynote, announcement and launch is very unpolished. You can't serve filet mignon when they give you hamburger to work with. This is not Apple's best effort.

Agreed. And if you were truly able to interact with it, pair it with a phone, it would take even longer.

So maybe $80? But I doubt it. Six months ago everybody though the gold edition was going to be $600 -$1200. The margins on these things are likely ridiculous.

I think parts still cost more than that but I'm not worried for Apple they always make money one way or the other. Now on the gold watch cost of gold is pretty high these days but they do seem to be charging a premium and likely making a higher margin on this model which I'm sure will have the lowest sales of all models, it will most likely be sold to the rich and famous. I sure can't afford one.

That is an interesting point.

I am torn about the celebrity privilege thing with the Apple Watch. I am aware that the Apple Watch needed to be as much a fashion item as a tech item which has been missing from previous Android Wear efforts. In order for people to wear things they need to be fashionable and look good as much as they need to be functional. I still don't like the celebrity privilege but I understand on some level why Apple felt they needed to play the game this way.

I would also note that Angela stated that and reiterated that this is not a typical release and normal in store sales will be the norm going forward. I don't think Apple has ever let anyone try an Apple product before launch other than reviewers so I don't get why people would expect that to change now.

They also did a significant amount of research to create a newer harder version of gold. So that could be part of it also.

I was gonna buy new Macbook, but then I compared it with Macbook pro 13 inch and then I realised why the **** would I pay £1000 for this?

New Macbook
1.3GHz Dual-Core Intel Core M, Turbo Boost up to 2.9GHz
8GB 1600MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
256GB PCIe-based onboard flash storage
Intel HD Graphics 5300
£1,074.00(student discount)

Macbook Pro
3.1GHz Dual-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.4GHz
16GB 1866MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
128GB PCIe-based Flash Storage
Intel Iris Graphics 6100
£1,212.00(student discount)

Because it's cheaper than the rMBP you spec'd, has twice the SSD (although half the RAM), is a lot smaller & lighter, and maybe weight is a more important consideration to you than absolute performance?

The rMP is a less powerful machine than the rMBP certainly, but I think everybody knows this :roll eyes: It's designed as an über-portable notebook, not a workstation.

Beyoncé's watch does the exact same things your watch will do. What privilege does she have? Would you be buying a gold watch with gold link bracelet if Apple offered it right now?

When I mentioned treating customers differently with VIP services and whatnot, I was referring to Watch Edition purchasers who get extra benefits and perks. This is the first time that's happened. We've never seen someone who buys a maxed-out Mac Pro treated differently than someone who buys a Mac mini. And that's what bothers me. Apple products used to be a kind of Warholian even playing field between rich and poor. But the Watch is changing that. The celebrity stuff doesn't concern me at all; that's just marketing.

As for Apple not letting people try an Apple product before, there's never been an Apple product before that you've had to try on for fit. You could make a case that the 6 Plus enters into this territory (in terms of 'how big is too big'), but there are literally watches that won't fit people. For instance, I was thinking about the 38mm Milanese. I tried it on in-store; couldn't even get it over my hand. So, this was a terrible decision by Angela. I could also go on about how most Apple Store employees are not up to the task of giving fashion advice and feedback to customers, and that's a failure by Angela for a product that is fashion-focused. But perhaps she wasn't given the resources or time to totally revamp the stores.

You're a bit of an optimist! She certainly hasn't improved much since her days at Burberry. I don't hold it against her, but she is where she is principally because she's female.

I highly doubt that. Apple could hire just about anyone they wanted for this position. They went after her for a reason, and my guess is it came from Mr. Cook.

Of course this is a fair point. But I was talking about the MacBook. And that should have had a delayed launch IMO.

Ummm...I got my Macbook on the 15th. Not sure how this was bad...came right to my door...

Something similar happened with the TAM.

lol seriously. Beyonce's privilege is that she got it for free and well ahead of regular people. and I bet she isn't going to use it either except for short period to fulfill whatever deal she has with Apple. She doesn't wear watches and on that photo she is wearing it upside down making it very hard to operate without obscuring the watch face.

Ok Apple... I hope you've learned a lesson from the Apple Watch launch. Now let's start planning your next product release.

You've got 5 or 6 months until you start shipping the next-generation of iPhones.

Please have 10-15 million new iPhones in stock on launch day... online and in store. And in carrier stores too. Start producing them now if you have to. I know you hate warehouses... but you need to have enough ready for at least the first few weeks. Hell... make your initial order 20 million just to be safe. iPhones don't spoil.

People may be upset with the delays of the Apple Watch... and I can see why.

But delays on the iPhone are MUCH worse.

(This post is largely satirical with a personal bias. I can upgrade to a new phone October 30th. But I don't want to wait until Christmas to receive it :D)

15 minutes is definitely enough time, like I said if it was guided by a trained sales associate. 15 minutes is longer than you think, it is half the length of most tv shows and newscasts, including commercials. Hardly delusional, you grumpy troll.

Yeah because it's the head of retail's fault that products are delayed.

not because of the launch.. i just can't stand her in general.

Also.. Why are we even hearing from her if she is so not involved? Is she the new face of apple? Why any public announcement from her at all?

Fit makes all the difference in fashion. You are right about that. That is a blown opportunity IMO. Thats one of the ways I would improve this launch. Apple has stated they will have bands on hand for swap out purposes for just this case I suspect.
