Animated Smilies

I wanted to send a smily that moved to a friend . I sent it to myself first . It did not move . Can you explain why .

Probably got saved as a jpeg which isn't animated. Just ensure the file is saved as a gif and it should work.

It also depends on what you view it in. Some programs (mail readers, mobile browsers, etc.) don't display the animation, only the first frame.

As always there is someone to help in the forum , Thanks . I checked the smily , it was a gif and was sent only once . Maybe twice http://images.macrumors.com/vb/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif, first to me then to a friend . I will try again . How would I change jpeg to gif ? Where do I start ? Thanks

By 'sent' do you mean e-mailed?

Mail.app in Leopard doesn't animate GIFs. Annoying.
I believe it used to in Tiger.
