Hi, I recently bought this Anker MagSafe charge pad for my 14 Pro.

I can’t see anywhere if it is approved or certified and my question is - Is this safe to use long term or will it affect the battery health or anything else?

It does get quite warm in use, is this normal?

Thank you 😊

Anker are a reputable brand and getting warm while charging is normal, as it is a “lossy” (less efficient) charging way by nature. However, the amount of the heat produced can be compared & questioned, as the hotter iPhone gets during charging, the worse it is for the battery.

Out of curiosity, why buy a cheap(er) charger for your very expensive iPhone 14 Pro when Apple’s own is 39$? This way, should anything go wrong, you can resolve it straight with Apple.

Thanks for the reply 😊

I got the cheaper MagSafe just to try it out, and from what I can gather Anker seemed to be a reputable company selling decent products.

Like you say the heat will be due to the nature of the less efficient charging.

Think I prefer the standard lightning charger.

Agreed, it is generally better. MagSafe ones just make it a bit more convenient, as you can place your iPhone on it without having to look/feel for the Lightning slot.

I guess you also need to consider how long you are planning to use your iPhone 14 for. If you are on a carrier or Apple’s own upgrade plan, so will be swapping your phone in, say, 1-3 years, you may not need to worry about your battery so much. If, however, you paid for it upfront and want to keep if for as long as possible without having to swap the battery, then charging it overnight with Apple’s own old 5W charger might be a good idea.
