Anyway, less of that and more of this.

This is OK

2000 XP PC 24" Dell WideScreen Monitor :)
500GB Lacie Triple Interface HDD
40 GB iPod, 1st gen iMac
Bought sister a 1.25Ghz eMac

But this isn't

2000 XP PC 24" Dell WideScreen Monitor :)
500GB Lacie Triple Interface HDD
40 GB iPod, 1st gen iMac
Bought sister a 1.25Ghz eMac
Wide Aspect F810 Camera 1GB XD Card

Which is well, , as the bottom line is shorter than the top.

Now i fiddled around a bit and i can get about 10 letters in on the bottom line but thats it.

And of course the whole thing is well under 150 charecters.

Annoying, but im too tired at the mo - need sleep!

You could always remove the line about what you bought your sister, as it's unlikely anyone will need to know that.

I count about 165.

By the way, vBulletin counts linebreaks as two characters (carriage return + linefeed). How un-Macish and un-Unixish of it!

Um, now thinking that a space is counted as a charecter.

132 without
163 with

(Word does come in handy at times)

Bugger.

Oh well, how about a small counter that counts down from 150 similar to a mobile phone text message?

I have to say that this 150 character limit is bogus. Hell, I can't even edit my signature, and I will not shorten it. Just because a few felt compelled to have sonets in their signatures, does not mean we should all be punished.

Actually, I'd say yours at the full 6 lines with multiple colours and a fairly large font is one of the more distracting signatures on the forums. I'd punish you more :p

This is ridiculous, I've had the same Signature for almost 2 years (save for changing the middle line). I've have received many comments regarding how 'tight' it is, and how informative it is. Just because some people decide to list all the specs of all their computers, each on a separate line, does not mean that a signature like mine, which BTW is only 4 lines, 2 of which fit into the space of 1, should be discriminated against.

I couldn't care less about your signature, to be honest. I was just confused by the fact that you "cannot" change you signature. I'm assuming this is really a "don't want to" rather than an unable to ;)

I was thinking about changing it to this...

I'm just upset that I cannot modify an existing signature to make it better, because of the morons that caused this action to have to be taken in the first place.

Sorry TEG i'd have side with Applesider on your sig .. Multi-color sigs are a pain to read and gives me a headache from looking @ it..

Personally, I find Multi-line, linked signatures to be ugly and useless.
At least Mine has a purpose.

By the power invested in me....it is done :)

Another vote for banning annoying animations.

Or at least give us the option of deciding if we want to see the animation or just a still frame.

I'd really appreciate it if people could make their sigs in smaller fonts. It helps differentiate between the post and the sig and there's really no need for it to be in the normal font size. People only read them periodically, and they show up just fine at a smaller size.

Thanks E. I know it seems like a special favor, and I do appreciate it. I am however glad that we no longer have sigs that are 5 times longer than most posts.

That my friend is why there is a large, black, solid line separating the body from the signature.

I understand that (though it's not really that large...it's quite thin and rather short). But more importantly, large signatures force readers to have to do more scrolling.
