Hello.

Can anybody tell me how I disable this annoying activation of MBP M2 by opening the lid. If I want to clean the keys and the monitor the device turns on.

What you can do is just turn it off, clean the monitor. Then turn it on get the app called 'Real Keyboard Cleaner' app (paid) I'm sure you can find a free version. the Keyboard Cleaner locks all keyboards for 30 seconds so you can clean the keyboard.

My problem is how to disable the automatic switch on when opening the lid, for every reason... Is it possible?

That's what I want!
It doesn’t mention it so I wonder if this works on Apple Silicon MacBooks. Let me know if it works and also if you figure a way to make only the power key the power key. This is my only grape with my M2 MacBook.

In the Apple world this is called “You’re holding it wrong” 😂😂😂

It’s only a minor gripe for me because I rarely turn my MacBook off since it does automatic power management so well. I’ve left my MacBook Air closed in my bag for two days and it has 80% power but I’m sure it wasn’t 100% when I put it in there. I just think the whole point of a power key is to have a power key. If you’re going to make every key function as that that then just remove the power key

That's what I want!
Good luck because I don't think this works on M1 or M2 but who knows. It may or may not? I likely won't use that of course.

This is based on that link above.

Let me tell you. Some times you need only to lift the f@@@ing lid without switch on the laptop no matter clean it or check something else. This is a problem for me. But also switch on by pressing any key is also annoying too!

Yeah it’s annoying. Do you always power your MacBook off? A lot of people do this coming from older Mac computers or a Windows PC. I just close the lid. Think of it like your phone where you don’t shut it off between using it. I think this is what Apple was going for with Apple Silicon. Unless you’re not going to use it for over a week I’d say just close the lid.

Did that work for not turning on when you open the lid?

Edit: If you haven’t tried it maybe don’t. I just saw the post above so it seems risky.

I just saw this! Yeah not good that’s why I was kind of scared to try it. Anytime you adjust settings that aren’t available in the normal settings it can be risky

OP:

You can't disable it.
Your only option is to learn to live with it.

I don't really like it, either.
But that's the way it is.

NVRAM is Intel only. Well.. non-volatile ram is universal; but the commands to control NVRAM are Intel only.

Yes, I shutdown the MacBook and my Mac mini also off every time. It is no need for me to stay sleep...

So many threads by people who are confused about how to clean their keyboard.

Either ... on boot, log in, then clean the keyboard while it boots. Or, lock the screen (press the touch ID button) then clean the keyboard. Who cares if a load of random letters appear in the password box. Once done, touch-unlock; you don't even need to clear the password field.

Getting an app to do this seems odd.

Wrong answer. The post is not for cleaning the keyboard. The post is for how to prevent switch on the laptop every time I am opening the lid. And I told the cleaning for example.

Modern computers are designed to sleep rather than shut down. Even newer Windows PCs are fairly good at it. I think just because of old habits are hard to unlearn Microsoft makes “shut down” really just a hybrid sleep mode unless you change the default settings. I’m not sure how macOS handles this.

OK it is an old habit I admit it, it works for me, I am closing all the applications and then I shutdown the computer, but I don't know what is the benefit in general of the actions sleep vs shutdown.
