annoying flyin!

Hope some one can help... when working on my mac, can be doing anything from word docs to internet when i click on whatever seems to be random....this dam thing fly's in and have to esc to return. why? how can i stop it?

dashboard wasn't open but i found in mission control that show dashboard was associated with mouse button 3, turned that off.. appears fixed. does the mac mouse have a central 3rd button between the left/right and i might have been clicking to close to centre!!
