Annoying iMovie message

There's an annoying iMovie message that only recently has been plaguing me.
I make a few movies and each time after finishing, I close iMovie.
But recently, it has been refusing me, saying it's still doing something.
Okay, I let it stay for a day or so, and it still doesn't let me close, so it seems like a bug.
I have to force close it.
This is on a M1 Max MacBook Pro with 64GB RAM so I am not short of compute power.
I am running the latest macOS Sonora.
It happens with both 14.2 and 14.3.
Anyone else have this?

Out of curiosity, what taks are being performed when you look at activity indicator?

As you can see on the toolbar in the screenshot there are no tasks being performed.

And I can't see anything relevant in Activity Monitor either.

Same problem for years, hoping to find a solution, every time i shot down the mac it stay on because of this, i have to force quit imovie
