We all know AT&T's network sucks but I'm convinced IOS is specifically designed to dupe us into thinking we have 3g all the time when we don't. I've noticed that if I flip on my iPad it says 3G up in the corner, but the second I open up Safari to surf I get Edge. Then if I close all the tabs in Safari and get out of it, vioalia! it says I have 3G again.

BS.

Yeah I dont have this problem....rock on though bro

When I get upset about something that is obviously an isolated incident, I make generalizations that is must happen to everyone on the internet.

This never happened to me on iPad1 or iPad2, on either Rogers, Bell Mobility Canada or USA AT&T
2 devices, 3 carriers.

I think with all the 3G topics, it's been summarized that you have to go with the carrier that serves you best in your area(s). AT&T may not be it where you are. Verizon maybe?

My AT&T 3G coverage is solid where I am.

Why did you go with AT&T then? If you don't like the coverage, return it and get a Verizon iPad 2.

I'm trying to reproduce what you just said and I can't. Sound like you just have spoty coverage as simple as that. As for your...

... conspiracy, I think that's BS.

I have this happen on my iPhone 4 when I got to areas with questionable 3g coverage. Mainly at my office.
