hahahahaha yeah running Mountain Lion via Emulation, and works like a normal installation? Suuuuuuureeeee

He must be banned. He 'suggested' me to use a hammer to get a torx screw out...

If emularion woeked at all it would be a hackintosh in the virtual pc.

----------

If you have source code of the application it can be recompiled for powerpc.

No...

You cannot do that. You CAN'T run Mountain Lion via emulation and expect to work as a normal installation.

Heck, stop drinking the kool-aid!

They are both for servers and supercomputers but beat anything intell has.

I don't know if this was already mentioned, but you should tell him that an Intel program cannot be hacked to run on a PowerPC...It'd have to be totally re-written for the PowerPC. In some cases, the program (or game) would have to be re-written and re-designed to run on a PowerPC. Sometimes, it'd have to be re-built from scratch or the ground up, using nothing but a couple references from the Intel version. I think that there are some Intel programs that can't even be written for the PowerPC, IMO. That's what I 'know'.

Intel and PowerPC are two very different architectures and Intel is much faster and more powerful than PowerPC now.

I would if I has source code. But i no have the src.

How can I explain to my younger brother in an idiot proof way that a G5 can not be hacked to run an intel mac application?

No explanation needed the machine will do it for you. The only question how hard headed is he?

That will determine the learning curve.

Remember .. horse + water + force = no drink

Don't be so sure. I have some very powerful computers at work that I'm responsible for. I believe even the current top five supercomputers are x86 based as well.

I have to point out that you cannot compile, even if you have the source.

Let me remind you that you once tried to pay someone to compile something if you gave him the code. So, you can't compile it.

It is not that simple, if it were, I would be using Notepad++ instead of Komodo IDE

Stop the nonsense, it cannot be done.

The way I explain it to my parents in law who I gave my g5 is that you can't put diesel in a petrol car and vice versa. They essentially do the same thing but they aren't cross comparable.
Also Intel is not better than PPC.. TODAYS Intel chips are better than PPC chips from 7 plus years ago. No one knows which are better, many people will say risc is better than x86.

i think this is being approached the wrong way so far. i say you tell him 'it CAN be done, he just needs to study up and figure it out'.

at 9, i doubt he goes after it, but on the off chance he does, by the time he's done enough reading/research to figure it out, you'd at least have a decent programmer on your hands. then help him write an IOS app, split the money, PROFIT!

younger sibs are the best/worst of times... best of luck.

Yes you can. It just depends on what libraries and dependencies the application uses.
