Annoying pop-ups

Does anyone know how to stop the annoying Google "you've won a prize" pop ups that appear out of nowhere on a page, completely messing up anything one is doing on the page?

Do not visit shady websites? Because that’s where those popups appear.

They are quiz sights on face book. Not exactly shady.

Very likely you could eliminate this problem by installing an adblocker. I find 1Blocker to be very effective.
