My expert analysis (/s) is that Apple groups a flip form factor with the mini and the SE as a compact option. Their perception is that consumers want bigger screens, not smaller.

I think they are actually missing out on sales by cutting out this segment of the market entirely.

Everyone is different and for those who want a flip or a folding phone, I hope you ultimately get what you want.

As for me, I was done with flip phones in May 2009.

And I'm not ever going back.

The linked article talks a lot about the Motorola Razr -- I had a Razr 2023 folder for 2-1/2 years before I went back to iPhone recently. The Moto folders are awesome - great quality, great price -- I think Apple would easily be able to match the build quality of the Razr devices. I think it would be a great idea to market an "iFold" -

I would love a flip phone to have the smaller form factor - i move around all day and I really want a small iphone that fits comfortably in my pocket. Currently sporting an iphone mini. May end up swapping to a galaxy flip when i upgrade as I really dont want something bigger.

So I've been trying out a razr ultra and I think this is the worst possible form factor for a folding phone. The exterior display is just pretty much useless so it always ends up needing to be flipped open. Then when it is folded in half it is fat so while it takes up less space in some ways the thickness is wild.

I'm already ditching this and getting a pixel to try leading up to the next round of iphones and then I will decide what I want to do from there.

I used a Motorola RAZR 2023 flip phone for about 2-1/2 years before I came back to iPhone recently. The form factor was very convenient. I would welcome an iPhone folder and would probably get one. Like others, I'm kind of surprised it hasn't been introduced yet.

The main "convenience" for me was that it fit extremely well in a pocket, and did not require a case or screen cover to protect the main screen.
