I didn't realize the price of 16gigs, but jeez thats a high premium. Thats mostly for laptops though eh?

16GB RAM works for most quad core processors. again EXCEPT for 2.0GHz

Not just laptops. It works for iMacs too.
But Apple lets you pick 16GB as a option right from the store.
