Dang, OP. You've had some bad luck. I would recommend that you get a 3Gs if you decide to get another iPhone. You and iPhone 4 just don't seem to get along.

Are there any other apple stores in your area that you could try? I went to an apple store to do a swap and they were complete asses. Went to a different apple store and they were the most helpful people ever.

My iphone dropped from my pocket down to the ASPHAULT today. With my nice case (Ultra) wrap i had a little tiny chip where it was uncovered. Case just paid for itself :)

It's threads like these that are going to make me put one of those behemoth Otterboxes on my phone

I hate it as well but with the luck I have had im gonna break down and get the otterbox defender I think its the only real way to protect this phone.

Yes I know

Yes I know that glass breaks thanks for that but with a simple bump this supposedly 30 times stronger glass breaks. Yes glass breaks but they have videos of them bending this glass and claiming it is stronger a simple bump like this should not break the phone in this manner. If it were just regular glass like yall are making it out yeah I wouldnt have even posted this. :apple:

I believe you are a good candidate for the Otterbox Defender case. If I were you would take my refund for the bumper and add some dinero to it and buy one.

You really need it.

yea, it was a magical decision by apple to make a cell phone out of glass

Yeah, but if you're not a moron, and treat it properly, you'll have an awesome glass phone for how long you want to use it. (btw not calling you moron, generalizing, universal moron ie anyone who doesnt take care of their property)

What the heck is wrong with people? The front and back of the iPhone are made of glass, and you expect to drop the phone and the glass not to break? Apple never claimed the phone would not break if dropped, so why do you feel you are owed a new phone if you drop it and it breaks? Is that Apple's fault?

The silly demands people make never ceases to amaze me. Common sense people!

1st. Apple never said it was 30X stronger. They said it was 30X HARDER.
2nd. What did Apple use in that comparison. PLASTIC. they said it was 30X harder than plastic. This is an awful comparison. what kind of plastic? 30x harder than the hardest plastic or the softest?
3rd. whenever you make glass harder you make it more brittle. so yes, you saw them bend it SLOWLY. if that was a fast bend or an impact it would have shattered like yours.

this comparison is a marketing play and is very mis-leading

yea, it was a magical decision by apple to make a cell phone out of glass

Yeah, and it was a magical decision by anyone who buys it as well. We all know it is made of glass. If I buy a glass roof for my house can I be made at the builder when it hails and shatters? NO, because I KNEW IT WHEN I BOUGHT IT!!!!

So, what is your complain here again? Angry iPhone 4 customer?

Apple doesn't owe you every time you break your iPhone. If you drop your iPhone, then there is a chance it will break. Apple never said the phone was a shock proof.

Either get yourself an insurance or get a case like otterbox for iPhone 4.

What's the deal?

The deal is that the phone is made out of glass. Glass is a ceramic colloid with absolutely no elastic modulus of deformation.

This means that when it hits something hard enough, it cracks! Sad, but true.

I would go to the apple store and lie your butt off to get a replacement.

Then try putting the phone in one of these before you try to take it with you anywhere.

I have the perfect solution...

Stop dropping the phone, this has worked wonders for me and my GLASS iPhone.

30 times harder. not stronger ;)

If the OP did something really simple like purchased it with an Amex card (or equivalent) with accidental damage coverage, he would've gotten two replacements for a grand total of $0 instead of $400.

Ok so I had my first iphone 4 fell about 2.5 feet and the whole front screen shattered, apple would not cooperate on a free replacement so I ponied up the 199 fee because my screen was not working properly. (keep in mind this was the only time I had ever dropped this phone.) Had the replacement phone about a week friend bumped me walking in my kitchen and my phone was in my pocket which hit the side of the cabinet face flat naturally I didnt think anything of it I had my bumper and invisishield on front and back. Took it out shortly after and the back was shattered. Apple as usual does not want to cooperate with me on a free replacement I barely bumped into the cabinet with all the necessary protection devices recommended by apple and it still broke. I had a 3g prior to this for over two years dropped and all kinds of stuff never had a scratch or a crack. This makes me quite unhappy just waiting on replacement backs to come out and replace it myself as it looks to be an easy task but pay 199 again I think not.

Angry Iphone 4 owner.

This is my phone now.

looks bad ass, a manly phone you should be proud of

Here's a hint...

Get a REAL case instead of that stupid invisible shield + bumper crap...

Invisible shield only protects against scratches, not impacts. Bumper won't help for crap if you smack the middle of the glass...

These things are GLASS PEOPLE! I don't care if it's Guerilla (or whatever other name) glass, it's STILL GLASS!!!

Get a real case, and be more careful with your stuff. And this is in NO way Apple's fault... YOU dropped/smacked your phones.

I carry my 3GS with the screen facing in just because I may lean or bump against something and break the glass. No way to do that now with the iphone 4. I think more and more this phone is too fragile for me.

So many obnoxious comments...yawn. "Whatever Apple does is amazing so let's defend it."

Apple touted this glass as being SO strong. Yet it clearly cracks fairly easily. It shouldn't crack from 'normal wear' like being dropped. It's not unreasonable to think people will drop a cell phone from time to time. A Macbook, okay that's different...this is a cell phone and is made for portability.

I haven't dropped my iP4 YET.

if and when you get your replacement you should invest in a otterbox defender for your phone. It will do you real good seems like it.

Get a clear case to hold the glass shards in, and then rock it like that! Looks punk rock dude! I hope if/when mine shatters it'll be the back... I loved the look of my busted ass 3G after years of neglect :-D As long as the front is pristine and everything works right, I'm a happy camper!
