I'd very much welcome any insight please!

I'm looking to upgrade from my trusty 2010 MacBook Pro and have been deliberating about the 2017 iMacs all day.

While the idea of the 27" is great... realistically it is out of my budget (the 3.4GHz 27" with an SSD at £1840) and I have a relatively new external monitor which I only occasionally use i.e. I don't rely on the screen space.

My main concern with the 21.5" is the inability to upgrade the RAM in future (is this a valid concern?)

I'm not entirely sure which way to go with the storage options either. I've read conflicting views on Fusion vs. SSD.

I'd be using the iMac for web development, gaming and music/films (400+gb which can live on an external drive if required).

    Hi,

personlly I would never go back to HDD. Even if it's Fusion Drive. Also Apple donwgraded the new iMacs Fusion Drive SSD ridiculously.

I think you should definitely take the SSD and use an external drive if required.

Some days ago iFixit showed that the 21 iMacs RAM and CPU is theoretically upgradeable.
