After using it for a day or so, the screen doesn't even bother me. And this is coming from an iPhone 4, 4S, 5 and a 3rd gen iPad.

Same here. I am very pro retina displays. If I didn't have ipad3 there's no way I could use this as my main device. I only use it in small increments since its my travel iPad. If I was using the mini for more than an hr then the screen quality would start to annoy me.

No, I think what you're saying is the exact opposite. The screen doesn't bother HazyCloud, it does bother you. At least that's how I read it.

Another iPad Mini Return

And ANOTHER thread like this.

No offense, but what was the point of this thread (or the other dozens just like it)? You're not offering up any insight other than your own 100% subjective opinion wrapped in unnecessary hyperbole (!retina != "crappy").

If it were, then the iPad 1, 2 and iPhone 1, 3, 3G, and 3GS screens are also "crappy".

You COULD have said "I tried the iPad Mini, but found the display size combined with that resolution made it difficult or cumbersome for me to do X", and then people could either have offered up potential alternatives, or agreed that yes, the Mini might not be best suited for X.

I also returned my mini...

I also returned my mini... And I exchanged it for an iPad mini w/cellular! I am really enjoying the iPad mini, that for the first time I decided to get an iPad with cellular so I can use it where ever.

The only difference between this thread and one of the countless switched-to-the-smaller-iPad threads is that instead of calling the regular iPad too heavy to bear using, he is calling the screen crappy.

Both are subjective, but have you noticed that regular iPad owners don't care if people think the iPad is too heavy, but Mini owners act as if someone not liking the screen somehow insults their self worth or questions their intelligence.

I think a retina display would make a big difference. I have very good vision, yet have to zoom in to read most text, otherwise it looks awfully pixelated and fuzzy.

I have an iPhone 5 that I use a lot. No issues switching between the mini and the 5. In fact, I bought 2 mini's.

We need a waaaaaaahhhhh smiley haha

As close as I could get you on short notice...

Eh, maybe not quite as bad, but I still see a lot of "get a gym membership" rebuttals on this forum.

I'm waiting on a table top iPad. Maybe a 32" retina display?

Everyone keeps saying they're waiting for the next thing. "Retina Mini". "128 GB iPad". "iPhone 5S". Whatever. You're all going to live unhappy lives, because it never ends.

But a table top iPad would be pretty sweet wouldn't it?

When it comes to the screen, I was not concerned what others thought, only how it looked to me. I knew it was not retina, but when I turned it on I was pleasantly surprised. The iPad mini screen looks great to me and has not looked bad on anything I have used it for (games, browsing, comics, magazines, or videos). I even showed it to a co-worker who has an iPad 3 and she did not know it wasn't Retina until I told her. Once she knew, she could tell the difference when I showed her text only, but otherwise she could not tell.

I really don't understand why there is so much in-fighting. If you don't like the mini, keep or get the iPad 3/4. I don't understand spending all day complaining about something you don't like, especially when you have the choice of something else. It's not like Apple discontinued the full sized retina iPad and only offered the mini... People can bash the mini all they want, but I am glad Apple finally made it. It's the form factor I have been waiting for, and I knew what I was getting.

I saw and held a mini yesterday for the first time and as one that thought the iPads were way too heavy i found the mini is way too heavy too. I don't know how people hold them and use them comfortably. Also, what is the point of having an LTE mini when you have an LTE iPhone 5. Seems stupid. But whatever. Have fun with it. :)

iPads just don't do anything for me. I can do everything I need to do on my 5.

You have issues if you think the mini is too heavy. I bet a college textbook kills you in seconds.

What's the iPad have to do with an iPhone with LTE?

Actually, I don't care what anyone thinks of the mini. That's fine if they feel it's "crappy". But again, it's a completely 100% subjective opinion that isn't adding anything to the collective knowledge base of this community. Like I said, if it was " the combination of lower resolution and smaller screen makes it hard for me to read" that would be fine (although again, if that was the whole point of yet another thread it's probably unnecessary).

The OP was "I returned it because it was crappy". In the case of "too heavy", you're right, that is also subjective, but at least it's SOMEWHAT quantifiable (in that it's heavier than they would want to have in a portable device) instead of "gosh the iPad 3 is a POS because it weighs so much".

There have been a lot of good reviews about the Mini (and other models as well). They are helpful for someone looking for real-world opinions, especially in specific use cases. Saying the screen is "crappy" does not help anyone.

The level of defensiveness is getting ridiculous. So there are folks out there who think the ipad mini screen is garbage. If some enjoy the mini so much why all the whining over what other posters think? One would think millions of ipad minis being sold would be validation enough. Evidently not.

Saying the screen is "crappy" does not help anyone.

Seriously? I must have missed the forum unspoken rule that in order to create a thread stating an opinion about a product, it should be "helpful" and informative to those looking to buy. Get over it.

I think that an OP of any thread should post whatever they feel and not really worry about what you, I, or anyone else thinks they should have posted... If someone creates a thread that doesnt meet forum guidelines I am sure it would be removed...

But if someone insults the iPad Mini Apple might stop making them.

Fair enough-except then I guess the entire purpose of a forum like this is pointless. My assumption would be someone posts a topic either asking for help, offering up information or trying to spark up a conversation. In the case of "I don't like X because it sucks" I don't see how that would satisfy any of those purposes, other than to maybe spark up a conversation just based on agitation/controversy.

If that was the purpose, then I guess I got sucked in as well, albeit not due to me finding the statement controversial, but rather annoyed at the fact the same exact thing has been stated in what amounts to the same thread over and over and over again.

I'm also just grumpy today, so I guess I'll shut up now until I can come up with an equally useful topic to post...
