Just redid my website all in iWeb. The loading is slow seeing it is html based but I have a flash version in the works that will be much smoother.

Anyhow, just showing some of the possibilities of iWeb.
    Comments welcome

UPDATE: This site is no longer made in iweb. It is now flash. The "Prints" section is still iweb though.

UPDATE#2: site now back in iweb :p

looks pretty cool, didn't know you could do that in iWeb.
a flash version would be much heavier and not as accessible to many people.
why not learn how to use something like Dreamweaver so you can make proper websites? ;)

i viewed the source. looks like the template is built with div tags instead of tables. (im assuming iweb is a wysiwyg type editor). pretty nice.

i guess i always associated templates built with crappy html tables like imageready and microsoft word, lol.

Yes, aside from some Photoshop work on the buttons and illustrations it was all iWeb.

If Apple could work in some flash like features where common navagation buttons and frames didnt need to reload for every page it wouldnt be all that bad...

    Are you listening Apple?

The key is not to use any of the templates. Start with the empty black page. remove/turn off the default navigation menu, any headers, footers etc. Then you can create whatever you want and hyperlink like a madman!

I keep finding cool little tools in iWeb the more I look. the shapes pallate can do alot more then you think...

Yeh, iWeb is alot more powerful than people give it credit for. I always start with blank documents then make my own navigational stuff etc.

I champion iWeb every chance i get as it is quite powerful and simple enough for lazy ass' like myself to create something good in minutes.

Two of mine done purely in iWeb are here:

    Very nice Macboobs.
Again, If apple would build in a way to make your custom navigations to load only once it would be fantastic. load times are my only gripe. That and no rollover options.

It supports Flaash though doesnt it? You could make a small flash movie for a button and drop it into iWeb so you have a rollover effect then just link the flash movie to wherever you want it to go when you click on it. Bit of a ball ache but it would work. Thats if flash is supported. Im sure I heard it was.

EDIT: NOt totally related but I used keynote once to do a really cool portfolio section with animation of work etc and saved it as a Quicktime mov then dropped it into iWeb. Whenever you clicked on the movie it flipped the image to show another piece of work. Looked really cool but was not very effective because of load times etc.

iWeb does not support flash natively but I have heard of people going into the code and tweeking it so it does.

If you are referring to my sites I have done it that way so I have total control of how it looks. I dont want someone idiot viewing my site in Times or Comic Sans because thats what they have set in their browser preferences. If that happens then I have wasted my time making my work look good. I want it to look its best at all times.

Nb. I am aware it adds slightly to the load times. ;)

Me too. Seeing that iWeb doesnt imbed fonts your text gets screwed if you view the site on a computer that doesnt have your selected font (PC's). check out my site on a PC and you will immediately see what I mean... UGLY!

freeny, you really got me experimenting with iweb now, I discovered if you export a keynote as interactive quicktime you can take that in to iweb and it almost like having flash in the site as the movie controls dont show, at the mo im playing with taking gifs in ive animated, just as well my site (andysdavidson.com) needs updating with newer work gonna totally revamp :)
