Hello Everyone,

Sorry for the mbp vs mba thread, I understand there is a ton out there but I was hoping to get some answers tailored to my situation. First off I would be buying the entry level 13" mbp or 13" mba. My main tasks include surfing the web, word processing, and matlab programming. On the side I have a drift POV camera so I will be needing to edit film from that, fyi it shoots in 720p.

.....Thanks for you help/comments.

Read through the scores of MBP v. MBA threads and you'll find your answer.

In short, if you want to spend more and get less, buy the Air. If you want to spend less and get more, buy the Pro. It really IS that simple.

Get the Pro, way more computer/power and not really that much bigger.
the 13" Macbook Pro isn't really a hassle to travel with whatsoever.

The above posts pretty much sum it up for you ... the MBP gives you more bang for the buck.

You can also upgrade the HD and the Ram

Alternatively, ask this question in the MBA forum as well and take the average answer from both threads and there's your answer! Personally MBP for all the reasons mentioned above.

I'd go with the Pro, but I DID go with the Pro. I just can't see having a computer without an optical drive. To me, the Air is basically an iPad with a built in keyboard.

As someone else mentioned, you stated that you use MatLab. For that reason alone I would think that you definitely need to go with the Pro.

well..processor-wise, the pro wins, but the air wins in IO speed due to the SSD. I think it's a wash as far is speed is concerned if you are just comparing speed of the 13" pro vs the 13" air base models.
