another question about preordering

i want to preorder the iphone4 next week, but since im not the account holder i dont know if they need to order the phone for me or is it okay for me to order it without them being there?

There is an option on the account holder's AT&T online site (Where you can pay your bill) that allows you to add an authorized user to the account. I assume you could have the person add you and then be able to do whatever you needed.
