Depends on what kind of problems you're having and why you're taking it in in the first place. You need to be more specific.

Without knowing what your problem is, no one in this forum could guess any better than the Apple rep on the phone. They'll know more when they actually get your Mac and check it out.

Ive had my HDD replaced, the logic board, the ethernet port, and the airport express. Right now, my mac will be incredibly slow(for once its running okay) If i come back from the mac being put to sleep, it'll take forever to respond to anything, and ill eventually just restart it. Sometimes skype or google chrome will run at 100% CPU usage, and sometimes more than that.

  • Have you tried using Firefox?
  • Are you using a rMBP (Retina)?
  • With that many problems, you might want to look into asking for a complete replacement. I've seen people on this forum before get their laptops completely replaced by Apple after numerous issues.
  • Try resetting the SMC and PRAM and see if that helps.

Sounds like a hard drive, or possibly disk controller, but without knowing more that's just a shot in the dark.

What kind of speeds are you getting on Black Magic?

Happens with firefox also(doesnt happen with safari).
Im using a early 2011 MBP
Im hoping for that because my apple care runs out soon and i dont wanna be left with a dud
and ive reset both every time i call

Usually, if the computer still has problems after three repairs, they will give you a new one.

Definitely look into extending your AppleCare.

You have a reasonably strong case for getting it replaced by Apple -- I'd push for that then.

That sounds like a software problem. If it was hardware, it wouldn't pick and choose which apps have problems.

Apple aren't going to replace your laptop for a software problem, and it's unreasonable to expect them to do so.

It also happens with world of warcraft on low and ultra, i get 300% CPU usage and it completely slows down my computer, same with anything really. It lags just on opening word

Tell them you are sick about the repairs, you think the computer is a lemon and you want a replacement computer instead.

Just don't yell.

if i were to get a replacement? what would i receive?

in all seriousness, would they give me a refurb 2011?
Yes they would find you a 2011 refurb or repair your MBP again. They sure aren't going to give you a new 2012 MBP unless you offered to pay the difference.

Actually, they don't swap with refurbs. If they replace it, it will be a current one.

Although, this 100% sounds like a software issue. Have you tried reinstalling OS X?

multiple times, usually every time i call they have me do a fresh restore

Its not that fact that i want a new computer, i want one that works. Last night i was backing up word document files to dropbox and dropbox was using 47% of my cpu, that shouldn't be right, AT ALL. I have friends with the 2010 imac, and the 2010 13in mbp and theirs doesnt lag at all and they do video rendering and a whole lot more than me.

They are going to replace it, gotta make the drive again in a week. They said my 3 other repairs weren't logged for what parts were replaced
