Wait if you can. M4 to M5 = big GPU and memory bandwidth upgrades (~30%) for LLM.

btw which model do you run? general or for coding? For example ~12GB RAM get you 4bit Qwen 2.5 coder 14B.

If you can't wait then price of M4 Max one is not too bad.

Another option I'd recommend looking at is the 14" with the M4 Pro (14 CPU/20 GPU), 48GB RAM, 2TB SSD and the Nano texture display (same configuration I have). In the US, that configuration is $150 more than the M4 Max configuration you listed, but you get double the storage and more RAM for that $150. Either M4 option will run circles around the M1, and the M4 Pro is faster than the M2 Max it replaced.
