Would be better deal if it had an SSD and not a spinner for the HDD. It can still be updated to the current OS as well. I own three of these and they all have SSD's. Makes them much quicker, plus mine all have 8GB RAM. Still a worthy machine and easy to replace the HDD. If you can afford to spend a little extra after the fact.

With a new drive you will get a couple more years out of it. I use mine for some extensive work with Adobe programs and it runs just fine. It is worth it, even if you replace the HDD in the near future.

I wont be Using it for heavy gaming or something. I got my high end gaming rig for that. I fell in love with Apple since my iPad 4,such a beautiful and fast product. Could that MacBook atleast run YouTube video's in hd? Like i said no heavy gaming, maybe like Facebook games,or oldschool runescape. :)

Sure can. My son is big into the YouTube video's. And my wife play's the Facebook games on mine occasionally without issue. Should easily handle what you need it for.

I own one of these laptops. I believe the original hard drive may be 5400 rpm.

Updated to a Crucial SSD (removed the optical drive and installed a caddy for another smaller older SSD too).

This thing is pretty quick.
I paid on the top range of $400 for mine but the machine is in near mint condition, one owner.

If you do not own Yosemite in your Apple ID then there is no way for you to "buy" it.

I bought the 2010 MBP refurbished from Apple in 2011 and now has a lot of mileage, but still runs great. At the moment it has a 128GB SSD running El Capitan in the spot of the removed optical drive and a 1TB 7200rpm HD drive for storage in the normal HD tray. Runs all excellent. You can buy all this extra (SSD, HD & tray) for less than $100 if you are looking for the right deals.

If you wipe the laptop clean, yes, Yosemite will be gone, but you can do an internet system install which will most likely now be El Capitan, which is fine for this machine.

If you did not "get" Yosemite from Apple store when it was available for "purchase" (the app is free) then you will not be able to download it now.
It needs to be in your purchase history.

Well, its not in my purchase history. So when I get the laptop, I need to do a clean install to get rid of the yosemite? Also, What OS is on the laptop, after the clean install?

I looked on www.everymac.com and found a mid2010 mbp with 2.4ghz core duo and it shipped with SnowLeopard (OSX 10.6.3). It will however run the latest El Capitan. I didn't see any listing for a late 2010 mbp.
