Hello folks,

I recently purchased the Apple in-ear headphones with mic for the iPod Touch, but use them on my iPhone of course!

Problem is, even with them on low in the office, as the ear buds block out sound, I find myself just catching the phone before it rings out. Plus, a sandwich van that comes to the office in the mornings sounds the horn when it arrives, which I sometimes miss.

Of course I know this is completely doable, but I'm wondering if an app exists, which detects sounds over a given volume, providing a growl notification or alike when it happens?

If such an application exists, could somebody tell me where I could find it, and even better if it's free. If it doesn't exist, then the developer who decides to make the app if they want would be a lifesaver to many, I'm sure of that!

All the best.

You could always only use one bud when working...
I could, but that defeats the object of paying £60 for a pair of headphones that are only effective when both are in the ears.

OK, I can't have desktop speakers because I'm in an office in a building of various offices, it's just not practical.

Furthermore, the IP phones we use have a light on the top when they ring, but it's easy to miss when looking away to a different display focusing on something I'm wooing on.

I'm not asking for ways around the problen, simply if the app I described exists. Thanks for your input though.

I think that there is a growl like thing for Jailbroken iPhones... but you have to be Jailbroken obviously...

On the subject of it detecting it... I can't help...

I have the same problem... but in the end.. I have just resorted to using my Bose Companion 5's for sound instead of my Headphones!!

The sound is so much more immersing LOL... You might be able to set a recurring calender date that will alarm you at the time when the sandwich guy comes... no ideal... but it would work!!

Hope that this helps....
J

Again, speakers are not an option.

I'm not after an iPhone app, but something for my iMac to do it.
