I have finaly made the move to a Mac from the world of windows. i have a license for etrust AV for mac. should i bother installing it. i would never run windows with out AV but is it safe to do so on a mac?

thanks for any help

Searching would pull up over 500 threads where we tell you not to waste your money on anti-virus software for OS X because it itself IS a virus.

No need for AV, but you can use ClamXav (its free) to scan files if you share with Windows users. You don't want to pass anything along to them.

I agree... it is a good idea to always be aware of what you are browsing and clicking. While there are no true viruses, there are a few trojans around that require you to click and supply your password, etc. Just use good common sense.

Oh, and avoid Norton like the plague 😉
