I'm days away from getting my first ever iMac and was wondering if existing users all have antivirus software running on their machines? One of the selling points that appealed to me was the lack of attack but after reading a bit more I'm not so sure I can go 'commando' online. Having seen spohos cripple my work PC I'm praying I can avoid polluting my iMac before I've even got started with it.

I'd say a majority of us are going commando.

The truth is that most viruses and virus creators target Windows machines as that is where the masses are...

...but with Apple gaining in market share there might be some viruses out there that start coming after us.

I have ClamXav, it's free and easy to use, I'll scan about every month or so and I'll scan big files that PC friends send but as far as infecting your Mac you are pretty safe going "commando", I scan just to know if my friends are sending each other viruses. :D
